Re: New Korg Kronos????

I like toys! :x I bought the Yamaha EX5 Expanded Synthesis on 2001 on around $2000 or more. Now I have to sell it in $500.... That's interesting! I just bought mine for $500. I've only approached it as a synth so far and haven't got any complaints. Soundwise it's killing the Motif es and xs I used ...

Re: Best Clavinet Box

The feel of the Clavinet is where it's at. Sometimes I use the Topaz emulation in the Miko during a live show, because of convenience. It'll pass for some things. Live I have to play guitar and keys. I'd love to use the real thing, but it's really too much to carry all of that gear around. When I'm ...

Re: John Bowen Solaris video Messe 2010

Believe it! Those who made preorders will be getting our Solaris by summer. John personally brought a prototype over to my place to check out. It made me realize how lucky I was to be an early adopter. I don't think people will understand what Solaris is truly capable of until several of us have had...

Re: musikmesse 2010 Frankfurt

1. It's great to see the new and longer ribbon controller!

2. I like the chord mode. It was a cool feature on the Andromeda I sold.

3. I also look forward to receiving mine in June

Re: Synth used on intro of Little Red Corvette?

More than likely an Oberheim OB-Xa. Prince was using OB's quite heavily during that time. He used everything from OB-X to the OB-8. Stevie Nicks says that she loved the chords of that song so much, that she wrote 'Stand Back''. Prince came in the studio wrote a synth part to the song and split!

In "The Stu-Stu-Studio" with Roger Joseph Manning Jr. One of my favorite musicians. He writes amazing songs and plays his a*s off for every artist under the sun! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3-Z_6oqOHM&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFRpF-W_HQc&feature=related http://www.youtube.c...

Re: Close as it comes to CS-80?

One of the most difficult-to-emulate aspects regarding the unique sound of the CS polysynths is the fact that each analog voice card was its own entity, and the comparatively primitive digital key tracking chose them according to which was available, and cycled through them. Each time you play a si...

Re: Jupiter 8 - cross modulation effect

My Jupiter 8 cross mod and pwm are reversed. When I moved the pwm slider I get the cross mod effect and vice versa. Strange. I've had it a couple years and had no issues. I don't if a previous owner was messing around with the guts and mixed them up. It doesn't bother me, I just thought it was a wei...

Re: Andromeda A6 vs Minimoog

Bravo indeed, but I agree with AG's original assessment. I recently sold the Andromeda. It 's a powerhouse modern analog, but for my needs I have other synths that I turned to more often. I do think the A6 has it's own unique sound and can be coaxed into emulating the sound of some synths. However t...

Re: Todd Rundgren

HoMH is from 1978, so an early Prophet 5 is possible, however unlikely... But just wanted to add, that Todd is the man! (and sounds a lot like Carole King ;) ) - CM Todd is great! He was actually a big fan of Laura Nyro, another great soulful singer songwriter. Of course Todd was so much more than ...

Re: Open labs DBeat

i think open labs products are right up there with the snuggie as the most useless products ever... Not true, if you want complete control of all your vst's and DAW in one unit without extra cables, interfaces and midi keyboard controller this is your best bet. Plus, the Open Labs tech support blows...

After a bit of coaxing my rev2 P5 can go off it's rocker! The Alesis Andromeda can be crazy as somebodys drunk a*s uncle throwing up and then dry heaving! Seriously
