Re: The E-mu long/short board thread...

I would rename it the "strangeboard". I guess they reduced the features too much. Or that I am a cheap guy knowing I could get a used Proteus 2000 module and a used midi controller for less than that and have far more features. If the price would have been around 250-300$, yes it would fit the marke...

Re: who uses keyboard workstation

I grew tired of having to start the PC, go through bunch of softsynth, have the keyboard plugged in, deal with latency just to have a acoustic piano sound. Therefore, I stumbled a Yamaha S90ES in pretty good shape. Excellent keybed, fun arpeggiator. It doesn`t feature a 40gig sampled piano, but a re...

Re: First Synth for an Industrial Musician

For under 400$.... Infamous microkorg. The less notorious X-Station would give yuo the most bang for the bucks in terms of polyphony, features, sliders, effects. I know you wanted a single voice synth, but at that price, kind off limit the possibility. You could dwelve in the FM or PM real with old ...

Re: UC-33 as controller for hardware synths

Novation SL can send SYSEX and the LCD screen reminds me what control what on the hardware synth. The less fun part is that Novation doesn't carry hardware synth template on their website.

Re: Thinking of getting a Korg Z1

This thing is a synth lab. Different oscillators, physical modeling, lots of env, cool LFOs and lots of modulations. Good keyboard action. Good arpegiator. The bad : like the other said, it does lack personnality. I found the MS2000 and ea-1 a little more biting than the Z1. The reason I got rid of ...

Re: VST-to-MIDI layer in development - Opinions please!

Something that would help me is : easy sysex string import. I'd like to type all the sysex string, the parameter name, range of value (and associated data name) in something like excel and then import it easily in your VST thing. I have Cubase 5. And typing one sysex string at a time in the midi dev...

Re: yamaha dx200 tell me about it

The issue I see with the DX200 is the lack of a proper computer editor. And if I remember well, it didn't work well with win XP. Also with the DX200, you cannot edit all the FM synth parameters with the user interface, you need the software to do it. As for the sounds and mangling, it had a good pre...

Re: New Midibox SID kit

Well, whatès expensive in the mega sid machine is the SID chips and the custom machined front panel. You can build a MB-6582, use only one core and two sids and keep the full blown control surface. The original concept of the midibox is a modular approach of your component. You can build a custom in...

Re: Virus TI and TI2 question

Access had to update the TI. Probably because the DSP that is was based on was discontinued. So they had to change it and to avoid confusion, a TI2 was introduced. For TI1 owners, I donèt think we should be afraid as there is the TI snow which features less processing power but seems to be considere...

Re: Congratulations: you're a f***ing synth addict again!

Yeah, me too I am massive synth spending in the last months. Last week I've snatched a Virus TI module. I received my Behringer ECM8000 measurement mike to calibrate my music room. I've bought a x0xb0x kit (sill unassembled), a Midibox MB-6582 (voice board assembled, have to do the control surface) ...

Re: Waldorf Largo

Yeah, I've found the kinda off "sort by categories" button. You have to select the last preset and then click sort by categories to make it work. A Categorie button that sorts the presets would be welcomed. Again, the user interface is nice. But there is a lot of information. An hardware controller ...
