I've heard the radias sounds more digital than many VAs... How does it compare to the likes of the nova, MS2000 or nord lead? I see you have a Radius I am saving for one and wondered if you have anything to say about them ? Do you like it ? etc Pros Cons ? Ross Ok, I'll tell you guys exactly what I...

Re: Korg R3 anyone?

Hi, I've done some searching around in here, and granted the Korg R3 isn't a 'vintage' synth, but if anyone out there owns one. I have some questions. I'm interested in checking one out, but none of my local music stores (Central MASS) have 'em in stock for me to test-drive. Yes, I've gone onto Kor...

Mixing through headphones is a bad idea, due to many of the reasons listed here. I didn't think so either, until I started producing with monitors and saw the difference in my mixes. When you monitor, it shouldn't be at high levels either, so perhaps it won't necessarily wake everyone up? You've got...

But how would you classify a single element FM voice in the SY77? Will it be like having up to 16 DX7's in one box? Or is the sound thinner? well, you have a much more robust sound engine than the DX7, it won't sound thinner. you don't gain the polyphony you would have if you were using 16 DX7's, b...

After I bought the TG-77, I pretty much abandoned my TX802. AFM basically destroys DXmkII generation FM, plus it has (crappy but serviceable) effects. Plus it has a nice big screen and a data slider. I would sell my TX but I figure it wouldn't get anything on the market, and keeping it for collecto...

I think it's the best of the DX7mkII series. i push everyone towards the SY77/TG77, the price difference is nothing these days and they are more complex and powerful. Yeah same here. After I bought the TG-77, I pretty much abandoned my TX802. AFM basically destroys DXmkII generation FM, plus it has...

Get your ears checked, fellas. The mini's oscillators alone kill the se-1, or any other mono out there So a mini's saw wave "kills" every other synths' saw wave...right..... A little extreme wouldn't you say? You, nor anyone else couldn't tell a mini apart from some other analog in the mix, ...

I'll take a stab at it.... I had the oppertunity to compare my SE-1 to a Model D Minimoog and I'm sorry (or happy) to say that they sounded very much alike. Due to the SE-1's nice screen, mod matrix, MIDI, and other features, I would personally rather have an SE-1 than a mini. I'm sure other people ...

I don't want to hang out at the music store all day long and test every freakin sound Perhaps you should move on to something else then, because anyone that is obsessed with sounds and electronic music finds this fun and inspiring (I know I do). Anyway, any synth that has a decent MOD MATRIX as wel...

It depends. The most valid comparison IMO is D50/D550 vs JD800/JD990, leaving the M1 out which is not really even a synthesizer but a preset box. To many, the JD800/990 superseded the D50. It is, essentially, D50 Reloaded. It has the same Tone/structure idea behind it (although it eschews upper and ...

Lots of synths can do those sounds...I wonder what Vangelis would do if he was behind a Virus TI. Besides the BladeRunner soundtrack and the VSE demo I haven't heard any original CS-80 demos. If someone wants to share please post up.... Not trying to start something here, but how can you say that l...
