Here's an example of a filter sweep sound on the D-50 (w/internal reverb) http://synthmania.com/Synthesizers/Roland/D-50/Audio/Preset%20demos/Factory/47%20Spacious%20Sweep.mp3 It's a factory preset. Here you have tons of samples from D-50 http://synthmania.com/d-50.htm and JD-990 http://synthmania....

I want one too, but I already have a XV-5080 and a D-550, so I am a little hesitant.

Can someone explain to me the essential difference between the JD-990 and the D-550?

The presets of the TG77 are nasty and covered in nasty reverb. There's a good synth engine in there somewhere I know, but you'd never guess from the presets. :( Well, there's about 12 good ones , though :D Yeah, the presets of the TG/SY run in two catagories; really bad 80's psuedo-realistic instru...

If you can actually say "how" you are making it fresh then doesn't that mean it isn't fresh?

"Give me a method for being original."

Doesn't this make pretty much no sense?

Pretty sure he also won some award for
mastering / mixing.

This is all you need to know; 1)LIVING CALLIOPE 2)STAR TREK VOICES 3)FANTASIA I will pay 300$ for just these 3 patches, which you get (one from a ram card but it is probably on the net), and so much more. Half of all new age music was made on the D50...and who doesn't love new age music (don't answe...

The JP-9000.

Andromeda A6.... IN RACK FORM.

..but most of all, what should exist but doesn't is a decent, user friendly, intuitive interface for an FM synthesizer. I don't care about anything else, all you synth geniuses need to figure THAT ONE out first.

I'm not going to argue or defend my remarks, it was just intended to be constructive criticism, I can't believe it caused this much controversy.

Hey no hard feelings intended man; if you like the way your music is sounding then thats all that matters.

Sadly, a lot of trance these days is made on software, so the trancebox synths that ruled yesteryear aren't as ubiquitous anymore... Let me let you in on a little secret..... no synth has the "sweet super saw sound". ...its all in the PRODUCTION and sound design. This is true with all the other myth...
