The main point here being; hard drive space being so damn cheap nowadays...why wouldn't you just go 1.5 times more space to record at 24 bit? Its a case of proving the negative, really.

I consider myself to have pretty good ears, and I can't tell the difference between 16 and 24 bit. Perhaps in certain specific situations, like having a huge hall reverb at 24 bit, and another at 16, I might, but realistically, no. But I don't think thats the point; its more of a mastering issue isn...

Here is the BIG SECRET TO MIXING.... To be good a mixing, you must first FAIL....then fail again, and again, and again. The more failures you have, the greater you will be as a mixer. You can read the most mixing advice out there, but until you sit there and work your a*s off and fail about 400 time...

Re: Old Items in a New Item way

LOL...who cares? I just get cheap HOSA cables. It really only matters if you have long cable runs, or stuff that is going to cause heavy interference, right? As I mentioned I am getting a hisssssssssssssssing. So I am looking perhaps from what you said something to keep the interferences down or th...

I'm currently in the market for a hardware reverb/FX unit as well, for my synths that don't have their own effects. I'm going to get the Lexicon MPX 500, so I'll tell you guys how that works out.

Cubase SE with an Audiophile 2496, and a PC. I assumed when I put this studio together 2 years ago that I would be upgrading to full Cubase with a "better" audio interface. Truth is, this is all I need (no mics/vocals, no simultanious recording) with a pretty clear signal path. I have never needed m...

Honeslty I don't see the point of hardware drum machines. Software drum machines with a boatload of samples is mucb better, it seems to me. If anyone wishes to share something that makes hardware drum machines so much better, please share, as I am a noob when it comes to drum machines in general.

Pretty much any hardware VA synth from the late 90's is being given away on the net because people have assumed they are being surpassed by softsynths and thus ditching them. Any of those (JP-8000/8080, Nord, MS2000, An1x etc) is a really good value right now. Get them while they are still floating ...

The price I am talking about is the ORIGINAL retail price.

Well?
