So yea...that JP8 that needed some love...
it's done. i scavenged a few IR chips out of a Juno 6. the rest of the parts needed-a couple IC's, diodes, sockets-i all had laying around. i had some leftover black walnut from another project; it was enough to knock up the end cheeks. kenton midi got installed. recapped the PSU. thoroughly cleaned...

Re: help with gate issue on a Roland JP8
Are you seeing a 15V gate on the collector of transistor 16 for that voice when you play a key associated with that voice? no, it's NOT!!! is that where the incoming gate signal meets the module board? on the working voice, it's going 0-10V(assuming the middle pin is the collector), but on the non-...

help with gate issue on a Roland JP8
hi all, im rehabbing a JP8, and one voice has a gate that isn't opening. at the TP, it shows an offset of about -.9V. (lets call it 1A; 1B works properly). i'm having a little trouble understanding how to trace the source of the gate within the module board. i KNOW the issue is local to the module b...

Re: To the person who snapped up the Jupiter 8 for 3500
some days, the bear gets you. i happened to get the bear that day. for the record, it needs work. voice #5 is dead. the mod button is either shot, or needs an extremely thorough cleaning. the whole thing is massively out of calibration-autotune doesnt get the remaining 7 voices in tune enough to rec...

Re: Sell everything and grab a CS-80
Steve Jones hit the nail on the absolute head. I would say the CS80 is the #1 most absolute enjoyable synth to sit in front of and play-of all time. I consider the layout to be on par with the ARP 2600-arguably the most intuitively laid out polysynth ever made. If you want a synth that is a recordin...

Holy s**t this thread smells like f**k nerd There's nothing you can do that is quite as "f**k nerd" as pointing out how "f**k nerd" a thread is that you're reading, responding to, and which applies in some way to you. :thumbleft: congratulations, you pointed out with stark, pragmatic clarity the na...

Re: OBXA Tandulum caps.
are you calibrating scale because it sounds out of scale to you, or because you think this is something you should do? its a question worth asking. i am going to tell you right now that if you are planning on tuning the voice cards, and you dont have experience tuning synths, i will bet you $100 th...

Data bus line problem on OB-XA. schem help?
