there is a very slim chance you would need to cannibalize one machine for another.
pics wont help, sorry. however, if you can tell if the CMOS ic's are socketed or not, you can eyeball whether or not there are several more hours of tech work, or not. if not socketed, add 2+hrs of labor on that job.

CMOS chips: cheap and readily available at:
mouser.com
digikey.com
as steve said, i think its unlikely its a yamaha proprietary IC.

Re: So what's the deal with a 2600 audio upgrade?
yea, i definitely dont want to go shotgunning things. plus, replacing ALL caps IME is not always of the best cost/benefit action on old synths. shaft: fyi, the PSU is just a standard linear +/-15V unit. i used a Power-One unit, a/b-ed the sound w/ the old one, and could not tell even the slightest d...

So what's the deal with a 2600 audio upgrade?
CMS is DOA, and google is coming up with no substantial description of any mods or upgrades for a 2600. the CMS site refers to "low slew rate" on some chips, audio path upgrades, and that's about it. has anyone here actually DONE any upgrades to a 2600? i spent the last X months just getting to know...

Re: Oberheim DSX recording a sequence
fyi, these replies(at least according to manual) are NOT correct. the manual details usage for CV output AND input. something to do with track 0 and the settings, i think. no need, so didnt learn it. Except that there is no CV/Gate input........ No input, no recording. however, if you turn the mach...

cs80 pheremones
this synth is a trip. since it likes to warm up for 15-20 min, i turn it on and let it sit before playing. the funny thing is, it creates an ambience in the room when its on, because there is a VERY distinct smell that comes from the circuits. ive never smelled anything like it; its a tiny bit sweet...

Re: Which Synth had the best Chorus?
Hall Of Fame for chorus ensemble must be ELKA Synthex and Eminent Solina/310U yyyyup. synthex is the one for me. part of it is that it has 3 presets that vary from super subtle, to pitchy as h**l. its definitely the most useful. hfinn, its interesting you like the cs80 chorus. seems like its a 90/1...

Re: Have Prophet 10 values really tripled in the past few weeks?
are you sure you want one? have you played one? i found it to be an acquired taste, so to speak. played a fellow members, and i was much more impressed w/ his T8....seemed like a LOT of horsepower to handle....

i'd promptly make my way to electro-music.com, and the DIY forum within. alot of those guys are coming from an EE perspective; they can point you in the right direction as far as texts.

Re: Is the Polymoog Really as Unreliable as People Say?
thanks for the offer, steve. as long as i dont lose anything else, im good for now. i needed about 6-8 of the divider chips that chris @ flatkeys in the uk provided, a few ca3080's, and an LM3046. once i get the PSU working again, i just need to tackle the "loudness" section, and everything should b...

Re: Is the Polymoog Really as Unreliable as People Say?
steve-hard to say. i'd guess like this: inherent to machine: connector oxidization socket construction of front panel L and R boards makes hard to work on schematic mistakes due to wear maybe: component failure i think i just hit a convergence this week of annoying problems. the schem mistakes arent...
