Re: Multivox synths

I have a custom-made MultiVox chorus effect in a case the size of a clockradio. The effect comes from an old organ that was about to be trashed, and was thus 'transplanted' by a technician.

One of a kind, R@R3, w000t! ;)

Re: Reason 9.5 announces VST support

I find it interesting that DAWs come with more and more built-ins yet I never hear people talking about using most of them! That's because those built-in plug-ins are just bonus material, in order to make more sales. Lots of USB/MIDI keyboards and/or audio interfaces these days ship with a 'free' D...

Re: One synth songs

In the earlier one-synth compo there was (iirc) a set of rules like: 2x the same synth (or 2x instances of the same plug-in) with an additional drumcomputer. Perhaps there was an effects unit allowed, dunno anymore. I used FM8, which has built-in effects. What was allowed was to use the multiple tim...

Re: Which Synth Artists do you want us to interview?

While being an interesting idea, and while seemingly logical to nominate the usual pack o' Vangelis, Jarre, Oldfield, Parsons, Kitaro, Moroder and Zimmer, I also see a few issues. Are they really that interesting to us regarding synths? These artists had industry leading synths that most ordinary pe...

Re: Photos of your set-up / studio

That's an old keyboard there! And I'm actually talking about the PC-keyboard! I mean... it has no Windows-keys, so it's kind of old. ^_^

Re: One synth songs

You may want to think about restrictions. Because one synth is really like having one oscillator and not much more, while another synth is a complete beast with multiple operators/oscillators and an effects section.

Re: Apps for synth build-it-yourself.. what do you think?

The 90's were fun, that's right, those were the days of inventing new effects things. After that things split up. You either had the real number crunchers who started pre-calculating things (textures, sounds, paths, scenes), resulting in spectacular 64k intros, and there were the productions that ha...

Re: Apps for synth build-it-yourself.. what do you think?

Yes, The Black Lotus.

The sleeping gods.

My own synth engine was far more advanced than the Jizz/Stash engine. Also far more ugly in terms of code, but hey.. it had to be made withinin three weeks o' time for a screensaver for Hewlett Packard.

Re: Uli Behringer's deeply concerning post

There must be a threshold somewhere. Why else would people beceome dissatisfied with Synthedit freeware plugins and end up paying for cheap hardware synths? The market speaks in favor of this trend probably increasing. Don't rule out the fact that many people are worthless sound designers, and even...
