jeez.... in the US a prophet 5 is about 2,500-3000 USD, so you're getting twice the prophet for a bit under that! i'd snap it up.

when i've got a great idea for a track, i don't feel like sitting down for 40 minutes to try and squeeze out the exact sound i need. it's about workflow for me.

having said that, i have no problem sitting down with a synth for 40 minutes getting sounds i want! just not when i'm working on a track.

FR Revolution has an amazing easy to use sequencer but I'd wish it had inherited some of the 777's unique features , I'm seriously considering ripping out the shite internal FX unit and hacking into the board to give me more control with the three extra knobs I'd get. Whadbout a Polymorph? I...

don't get me wrong, rockit, i love the trials and tribulations of all your gear aquisitions, but giving you advice on synths seem pretty pointless since you are a very picky guy. you know exactly what's out there on the market, and you know the specs on all of it, so i'm not sure what insight the VS...

how is this sound made??

hey synth nuts, i have a question. i'm in love with the 80's style pad in this song: http://www.last.fm/music/Bark+Psychosis/_/Three+Girl+Rhumba my question isn't so much what they used, but how they made the sound. also, what effects do you hear specifically on this pad? i know reverb, but there's ...

not every used rhodes has a horror story behind it, remember. i got mine in november 2005 and it plays just fine. sure the action is a little weird, but even putting a little time and effort into it helps. one cheap, easy thing to do to fix sluggish action is to spray down the key pedestal felts wit...

in a word: yes. the rhodes is a wonderful instrument, find one in good condition that plays well and it is well worth the money.

building off of what you're saying, i remember trying the minimonsta VST and loving it, very much so, indeed. but at the end of the day, all it really did for me is make me want a real analog even more, so i got the little phatty. now i use only the phatty and never use the minimonsta.

nine inch nails is designed for sales, not critical credibility. I'm pretty sure that would be news to Reznor. I mean, The Fragile was such a radio-friendly album with tons of pop hits. i dunno... there's a difference between making an inventive, non-mainstream album and making an album that just b...

Okay, so I was a little bombed when I wrote that... But critics and the masses eat both of their "work" up with a spoon, heralding them as ground-breaking and innovative. Critics don't eat Trent's music up with a spoon. Check your local copy of Wire mag to see if it's even reviewed. the wire doesn'...

VSTs - Are you satisfied?

I was just playing the gmedia minimonsta demo. it sounds totally great to my ears. but it just makes me want a real moog even more, like the minimonsta is just a tease of having a real synth in front of you. What do you think? do VSTs cut it or do you just want the real deal even more?

Actually it's really easy, I don't know what that's guy's on about. Just plug one of the 4 non-main outs (line out 3, 4, 5 or 6) into the input of your fx and then the output of you fx into on of the line ins. You can do this while monitoring through the main outs without that signal being effected...
