Re: VSE - Good trader thread

Max Websta bought some stuff and was awesome throughout the entire process. Would totally deal with him again; he is a king among men (or something like that.)

The mighty Roland SPV-355

One of these just showed up on our local Craigslist here for $700 CDN. Anybody know anything about these, or had any experience with them? From what little I can find out it looks like they're a Roland SH-2 in a box hooked up to a completely insane pitch-tracking system from the 70's, which.... well...

Re: What is your live set up?

Live setup: Fender Rhodes - I use a Mk. II 54 key Rhodes, which has a lovely action and has been modified to be very barky and growly. It likes to pretend it's a Wurli. I used to use a 73 suitcase, but that just got to be too heavy. Sometimes I put it through a Maestro PS-1 phase shifter, and someti...

Re: What was the cheapest Synth you ever bought?

Hohner Clavinet/Pianet Duo - $300. By far, the best deal I've ever gotten, considering that it has all the accessories and one just went on eBay for $2.7k USD. Any clue as to why the high price? Its not exactly the best known member of the breed. Most Clavinets - the D6, in particular, are buzzy as...

Leslie 125 - $60.

is this for live purpose or jamming in your bedroom... Live. do have any means of recording yourself....just have the beat going and keep playing over and over and over it. When you are done just go back and listen to what you like and disliked and figure that part out...then plan out your "improve...

MPC/looping pedal?

In a fit of madness, I went out and got an MPC 2000. Been having fun with it, too. However, it doesn't do something that I want to do and I need to figure out how to do this. Hoping somebody here has some good ideas. Here's the deal: I have a Fender Rhodes and a Clavinet. I would like to be able to ...

I honestly don't know why it can't do bass well. I'm more of a player, sadly, and not really a fountain of knowledge about the inner workings of these things. I just find that it sounds rather... well, farty and unconvincing. It may be just that it doesn't have a nicely designed preset for such thin...

I have an SH-2000 and must confess to being quite fond of it. It's very limited, you're right - you have a bank of weird tabs on the bottom, and the right-most tab is used; you get some minimal control over 'effects', but nothing to write home about (except for the touch-sensitive growl, which is fa...

Thanks for the offer, Machinengeist. Hopefully somebody has some clue as to how to fix this thing. Randomly, for anybody interested in such matters: this synthesizer is a pain in the @#$@ to work on. If you loosen anything too much, or jiggle it just right, all of the keys fly off in the air. Stupid...

Roland SH-2000

A while ago, my Roland SH-2000 met with an accident; somebody knocked it over, and one of the black keys got smashed. I replaced the key, and in the process had to disassemble and reassemble the entire synthesizer. And now, it doesn't work. It gets power, the 'modulation' light turns on, but it prod...
