The playing method is typically the same as well. guitars/violins/horns/etc have a very accidental interface, whereas keyboards are very deliberate.

An overdriven ART tube mp is a cheap solution that actually sounds good! I have three of them and they all give a nice high frequency rolloff, and a mild breakup

do any of you jam with other synth guys?
I know we are relatively few in number, comparatively speaking, but do any of you ever jam with another synth player?
Do some collective midi clocking, and go to it like guitar, bass and drummers would? In my area its rare, but super every time i've done it!

How to author timbre remains a great way to say it! I will stand by my earlier statement. If I alter the partials by adjusting the pulse width, whether by hand, lfo or envelope, then I am certainly authoring timbre. AG, are you using the minimoog as a line in the timeline sand? As if to say "nothing...

We all love PWM because it's a cool sound. But it's an effect, not a synthesis too. Lots of synths don't have it. Many vintage synths only had it as an apology for single oscillators. If you want it, seek a synth that has it. If you have a synth that doesn't have it... use the synth for what it doe...
