Re: Whats your current computer setup like?

Using a Mac is a simple endeavor. The interface isn't complex, and things have a logical flow and feel (my subjective opinion). 99% of the time there aren't any barriers to getting good audio at low latencies, and I personally have found the hardware to be stable and reliable. +1 for the PF firewall...

While we're talking spelling, I could be wrong, but I think you may have meant to write "segue..."
A segue, whilst riding a segway. What a transition.

Re: Pittsburgh Modular System 90 Modular Analog Synthesizer

Personally, I think the Pittsburgh Foundation is a great idea to get started. It's a complete voice, for *IIRC* around the same money as you're willing to spend. You can always add on later, but at least this way, you have an entire monophonic voice with heaps of options for sound creation. If you d...

Re: Analogue Additive Synthesizer

The only one that comes to mind is the Analogue Systems RS370/375 modules... I suppose in modern synthesis terms, that's the closest I have found (besides the cheeky responses above)...

Re: Achieving "fame" for your synth work

Not sure this is the right section for this post ... Some here are not looking for "fame" and just enjoy making music with their synths in their home or studio or with their friends. Some also may dream about becoming "famous" or at least getting some public recognition or following. I'll ask a que...

Re: Fairlight and Emulator Libraries in Kontakt Format?

Check the samplers subforum... for example, I found this one:

Fairlight II

If you can't find any more, I'll see if I can dig up my library of stock E2 and Fairlight Samples...

Re: Arturia major problems anyone else?

It's not unheard of to have minimal re-authorizations; through the course of a lifetime of the software, unless you're changing machines all the time (which is kind of out of the ordinary) one might re-auth the once or twice. They're giving you 5 (I think) which should be plenty for the lifetime of ...

Re: Arturia major problems anyone else?

OS 10.9.1 I'm not sure what Firewall, I haven't done anything to change that other than what comes standard on a Mac. I have one iMac machine I use and one laptop machine I use. One iMac is in my living room and is pretty much always on and the studio laptop is usually always on too. I don't know i...

Re: Which Odyssey color?

Soooo what are everyone's thoughts on the tiny rubber caps on the sliders vs the full size plastic ones only on the non-limited version? To me that's a major setback of the special editions. Frankly I don't give a toss, so long as it does what it should. Coming from the vintage set, I was just happ...

Re: Arturia major problems anyone else?

Although I must admit their tech support emails seem to fall by the wayside the one or two times I've had to email them, I can say without equivocation that I've never had a problem with stability or licensing issues on any of their plugs. Ever. I can't say the same about many others. You should pos...

Re: Prophet 6

<Good luck getting vintage out of a brand new synth that uses brand new, modern, components.> A bunny dies every time someone spits out this stupidity. An old resistor or cap doesn't sound "better" than a new one. Resistors resist. If anything, it's worse from deterioration (at least in the case of...

Re: Most intuitive/educational current analogue monosynth?

My personal suggestion to you is to forget looking at the synths you have in your narrowed-down list; if the Mopho is giving you fits, then I'd likely say that many of the others will as well. The Mopho is well laid out, and if you were to simply build a basic patch as meatballfulton suggested, you'...

Re: Prophet 6

Be happy that he's releasing a modern VCO polysynth larger than 4 voices for under $3k USD. Approach it as a new synth and staaaaahp with the endless attempts to equate it to a Prophet 5. Blimey. You lot will find any reason to whine about anything. I knew someone would write something like this. L...

Re: Which

The White Mk.1 reminds me of a particular 1973 Woody Allen film. The Mk.2 Reminds me of the bad-old years of the '80's; Like a Nakamichi Cassette Deck. The Mk.3 is the only one that seems to look less like instruments of yesteryear.

+1 for Mk.3
