Re: Selling on Fleabay - Any pointers?

Document everything; Take copious photos of the machine you're selling. Test it thoroughly if possible. Ensure you are transparent in your listing as to any problems. If it sounds odd or too good to be true, it most certainly is. Accept none of the "I've got a bloke near you that you can ship to and...

Re: NIN Nord Lead on eBay. guy immediately gets defensive

Post the ebay auction. I recently sold my Nord Lead 3 (rack) that was autographed by Charlie Clouser, who had also drawn a NIN logo on the back. I'm always skeptical about provenance, and quite frankly, it's only applicable to me when I say that while it's cool to own something essentially handed do...

Re: Which Synth Survives the Flames! Round 1

It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue. > go east You are in a very large studio; it is outfitted with all manner of high-end, magical, electronic devices such as an ARP 2600, a Neve desk, and an Akai reel-to-reel tape machine. It also appears that an unfortunate soul has taken his ...

Re: Which Synth Survives the Flames! Round 1

Unfortunately for the Novachord, it would go first. (and unfortunate for mankind, coz that thing is all sorts of sex) I'd probably head thereafter into anything else that had wood cheeks and whatnot. If we were thinking implausibly, then the Emulator II would be the first to get sacked since I think...

Re: which synth should be set on fire?

I believe they (exactly who are these devilishly handsome blokes & birds, anyhow?) should pour petrol and apply flame to the following: Crumar DS-2 (bloody h**l unstable, and would fail if someone happened to have a bottom cough nearby.) Realistic/Moog MG-1 ('coz radio shack buggers everything up) R...

Re: why would anyone own 3 moog voyagers?

Polyphony. One of my desires is to have a 5-6 voice Voyager rig. Even if it weren't an option, I'd still have and want more than one for gigging purposes as well as being able to track more than one at a time. Speaking of which, another one of my desires was to have an 8 voice DSI PEK, but in all ho...

Re: Can't Believe What Has Just Booted Up On My Bench!!

I really like these stories behind the development of interesting gear, particularly the human stories, and the challenges of making something great with very primitive (by today's standard) tech... Well the first tidbit is that this is the very example that was used to make the album Dig It. http:...

Re: Can't Believe What Has Just Booted Up On My Bench!!

That kiddies, is the Crumar GDS. Unobtanium indeed. Runs on DOS' predecessor, CP/M; not unlike the Synergy (which is a direct descendent of this machine). ..I can't recall if the GDS uses 8" floppy disks or 5.25", but somehow I believe it was the larger of the two. Outstanding, this. Dan, what did y...

Re: How many hardware synths do you own?

You've a problem. :D I used (used) to have about 30 (31? 32?) hardware synths ranging from the small (sh-2) to the immense (M5). I think there are still photos of that madness in the studio pictures thread (which probably also show in grave detail how small things are getting since just over a year ...

Re: Prophet-600 - trying to get it all fixed up

I'd suggest giving this guy a chance to get your P600 working correctly, with minimum cost -- if you're working with unknown problems, it might save you money down the road - as well as headache.

Re: Spring Reverbs

If you can find one (Hint: my FS listing), check out the Accusonics Accuverb -- there's not really alot of information out on the intertubes about it, but I picked one up on a whim a long while ago, having the desire for a spring verb that was unlike the quite interesting Ekdahl Moisturizer (another...
