The tax write off story sounds plausible enough.Which is what i feared. I doubt the "Secret tomb of lost GX 1s" exist. :) However from what i hear they were flat out refusing to sell them! Could Japan have so weird tax laws this was actually profitable ? Sounds a bit far fetched but in the realm of ...

Yamaha GX-1
So i read about this marvel and they claim they did 50 of these but like 40 went back to Yamaha and were never meant to be sold. Is this really true and if so why ? Just seems so weird making synthesizers and not selling them. For what purpose ? And where did they all go ? Stored in a warehouse somew...

http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/mar05/articles/trevorhorn.htm Drums is a combo of TR 808 (possibly only used for triggering) Simmons and Linn.A minimoog was used. Not sure about the Fairlight though. The article isn't 100 % clear on that matter but i think not. No mention of any Prophet 5 or Jupiter...

If you have a Fizmo you should check this http://www.carbon111.com/fizmo.html immediately. Before you even turn it on again. You could fry the Fizmo if it isn't done. Some older synths had batteries that started to leak and destroyed the synth. The Korg Polysix for example are infamous for this. So ...

I'm not sure if I know of any synths/samplers that do their filtering completely in the digital domain Huh ? The Emulator IIIx,Emax II, Roland S-750/760/770 for example all have digital filters. And digital filters on synths is a lot more common nowadays than analog filters and has been for a long ...

foam doesnt sound proof....it just absorbs.....play your music a lot louder than normal....find the area where is bouncing and place the foam there silly question, just how do you see where the sound is bouncing? acoustic treatment is one thing I've never attempted yet or got my head around. If you...

I think replacing the disc drive isn't quite as easy as you think. I don't believe you can jst shove any floppy drive in there and expect it to work. http://www.emulatorarchive.com/Samplers/E1Overview/e1overview.html Check out emulatorarchive. Plenty of info there. I would'nt buy an Emulator I but t...

Only you and Don't go was pretty much all Proone except for drums. I believe an Arp 2600 and/or Roland System 100m was used for that.EmptySet wrote:Wan't that Yaz record done pretty much entirely on a Pro One? There's a website around that demonstrates this, but I can't find the link at the moment.

If it is me you're referring to,i NEVER said that. I said they COULD and you'd never notice it. Yes, but you went on for 5 pages defending the idea. That thread was exactly the reason why I asked the question in the first place and the Clavia dude was pretty happy about me asking it, because nobody...

This because of an earlier statement here on the 'boards where someone told that VAs used lookup tables - well, at Clavia, they don't. I asked one of the guys on the stand (one of the engineers) this question. Waveforms are generated - and resynthesis is used so the "sample" is playable over the fu...

Fairlight CMI 3 would rate high on my list. Ridiculous price for what is essentially a computer and a sampler w/a keyboard. But of course, there was nothing like it back in the early 80's. Now we can get the "same" setup on our home computers. At that time it's only competitor was the Synclavier wh...

I don't like the term overpriced. It's a free market,if you don't like it,don't buy it. But with that said, two items comes to mind. :D The Waldorf Wave. Was'nt that one released with a ridicolous pricetag just to bring money in pay for the cheaper models ? Of course all money is welcome but i read s...
