Re: Rarest Synths

What are the rarest or less common synths? I've seen many Prophet 5 on ebay, but the CS80''s or the OB-X's, for example, are not as usually found as the Prophet or others... My nominated are are: -ARP 2500 and 2600 -Yamaha CS80 -Elka Synthex -Oberheim OB-X/ Oberheim 2,4 or 8 voices -Moog Memorymoog...

Re: How well would JX-8P patches 'translate' to the D-50?

D-50 is PCM samples+LA synthesis and the JX-8P is traditional subtractive...so what's similar? The D50 has a fully featured virtual analog synth engine so the project is doable. It would be an interesting project to do a sysex converter but there's a few problems. 1. I don't have a D50 or a JX8P. 2...

Re: Which Synth Had The Worst User Interface Ever?

I see you have'nt tried the Yamaha TX16W.
I have'nt tried anything even remotely as frustrating, counterintuitive and simply ARRRGGHHHHH ever.
Those synths you're suggesting are childs play compared to the TX16W.

Re: Is Enigma's flute on Sadness same as in PG's Sledgehammer?

The choir sound on Blue Monday is as far as i know sampled from Uranium by Kraftwerk. Blue Monday = Emulator I Gregorian choir Kraftwerk = Orchestron disc choir http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/apr04/articles/rogerlyons.htm According to this article it's sampled from another record. Not that it is n...

Re: ARP 2600 and Minimoog: A match made in Heaven

If you read thru Alan Wilder's Q&A on his site pretty much every: What synth was used for bass in XXX question is answered with a : i don't remember exactly. Most likely a combination of a MiniMoog and an Arp 2600.

Re: I just bought a NL2x. I'm sooooo disappointed...

I just think it's funny that Jexus can take the most c**p synth on the planet and make it sound awesome and when he finally gets his hands on something decent he hates it. There's a lesson to be learned in there somewhere though i don't know what it is for the moment. But it's in there i tell's ya.

Re: Octave Range: 2' 4' 8' 16' 32'

The naming convention comes from pipe organs where different lengths (or is it diameters ? Anyways it's linked to the size) would give you different pitches. Which one is which,i don't know but should be fairly easy to find out.

So let's start by getting a couple of things on the board out front. The VCO, VCF, and VCA circuits are nearly identical.

Re: Great Kraftwerk video - Autobahn

Thought so, thanks for the info. Do you remember what the selling price was? I believe it was 12k $ or the equivalent of 120k SEK which is which is about 14.5k $ in todays exchange rate. That has changed quite a bit since the auction so that could be way off by this time. It'll give you an idea at ...

Re: Moog might be considering a new polysynth...

That is cool. I wonder if Moog uses the same production technology, and how quick the retooling process is The LP is SMT and the Voyager is not. It is "thru hole". I asked about the differences in the geekslutz forum over at gearslutz and there's a common belief that thru hole is somewhat superiour...

Re: Looks like everyone has caught onto Ensoniq synths

Yeah, it's part of why I've felt reluctant to post any videos on my You Tube account. I have had a tendency to acquire "underrated" instruments and be one of the few people who knows enough about them to show others what they are really capable of. The problem is, if I posted a video of it, soon pe...

That filter is the full-amplitude one - so all the others are in reference to it.
