Re: Worst.. hardware sequencer.. EVER

Programming the MC202 puts hair on your chest. Especially two tracks with different bar lengths. It should be possible but i don't think it ever were. At least i never got it to work right. I can't even imagine programming an MC4 or MC8. How Vince Clarke could do complete songs with a bunch of MC4s ...

Re: My polysynth is finally finished :D

I noticed you said you spent roughly $1600 on parts for building this. That shows roughly how much it costs to create an analog synth of this power today. But if you compare it to a Prophet 08, they sell new for $2000. Estimating, I'd say the Prophet parts would cost more money, but it almost seems...

A free CS 80. Seriously.

I came across this post over at AH.

Seems like someone has 2 CS 80ies to be renovated and he does'nt have the time/skill/whatever to do it.
Fix both, keep one. Got to love that.

Awesome Vince Clarke interview.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/neilvance/sets/72157605339147349/ Found this Vince Clarke Flikr site which amongst other things contains scans of two old interviews with Vince Clarke. Really interesting read. Some highlights to wet your appetite: He bought the Fairlight for the first Yazoo tour because...

Can's Alpha 77

Someone over at KVR wondered about Can's Alpha 77 and i've never heard about it. I did some searching but found precious little info on it. It was made in Switzerland as i understand it but that's pretty much all i got. http://www1.keyboards.de/magazine/m1105/511022_can3.jpg Looks like a tape echo i...

Re: Anyone heard about this????

I've discussed several things with the dev over at KVR. He's the nicest guy and makes some of the most innovative, corky VSTis for free. One with a really weird filter that is somewhat like the EMU Z filter i believe. Never quite got my head around that thing but it is free. He makes other stuff as w...

Eddie Harris secret Moog synth.

Just found this little gem over at the Bruce Swedien subforum on Gearslutz. Thought it might interest some people over here. Anyone have any idea what he's talking about ? Four-oscillator Moog ? A small modular ? Though he did say it never went into production. Having wet dreams about finding this o...

Re: Analog doesn't sound Analogue

I'm not surprised at all. If you analyze what "analog" means to most people it's usually a couple of things. Oscillators that are'nt ultra stable, noise and non linearities (distorsion). None of those is particulary hard to do in a digital synth either should you want to. If you implement those thin...

Re: vintage gear question..

Regarding the Synton Fenix "Bert and I designed the Fénix because none of my existing synthesizers gave me exactly the combination of facilities that I wanted. We did it for that reason alone -- it was the synthesizer that I wanted. Both of us work elsewhere so, even though the Fénix is now a realit...

Just double checked. The Sideman does indeed have those so not only is it the worlds first drummachine but also the first with pads. Done in 1959 and forward.
