Love Suicide. I remember the first time I heard 'Frankie Teardrop' I was relaxing on the sofa listening through headphones. The scream almost gave me a heart attack. Can't say that about too many groups ;)

Re: "Affordable" Modern Synth Showdown

Ultranova & Blofeld. You can pick up the pair 2nd hand for £500-550 ($750-830) or so.

They make an awesome pair.

Re: New hybrid digital/analogue Roland JD/Xi

Thanks for the lowdown & vids (I'll check them out later). There seems to be quite a lot of under the hood tweaking needed to get the most out of this. I'm wondering if the XA will resolve this with more knobs/buttons/etc.

Re: Cheapo Rackmount Synths?

E-MU racks such as Vintage Pro, Xtreme Lead, Mo-Phatt, Orbit 3 etc are pretty good value for money & have a great set of features. They are also expandable, as you can buy them as ROMs & stick them in whichever existing one you might have bought, each one can hold up to 4 ROMs.

Drum edit flexibility is ridiculous.
I watched that vid earlier today. Whilst the digital & analogue synth parts are a bit meh, the drum parts have made me develop a small amount of GAS for this.

Re: Drone Side Of The Moog

Glad you enjoyed it.

Effects used were :

Eventide Space (for reverb)
Eventide Timefactor (for delay)

For the sequenced parts I used a Korg EA-1.

Drone Side Of The Moog

My latest release "Drone Side Of The Moog" is now available on Bandcamp featuring 6 tracks of ambient dronery.

All sounds were created using a Voyager.

Re: Pattern sequencers - not developing with the times?

What are ya' doing? Are you trolling? Do you work for Elektron or run an Elektron fan group? I'd be grateful for you not to hog the thread. We can all cite favourites. I'm trying to open a general discussion perhaps of benefit to all and of wide interest. Give the Elektron thing a rest. You like th...

Re: Looking forward...

I predict that in 20 years time the Akai Timbre Wolf will be worth a fortune. After all, it is so bad that Akai will only sell about 63 of them & the rest will be recycled into toilet seats.

So if you want to make a killing, order yours now ;)

Re: Playing synths: do you play what you like to hear ?

I generally only play/record stuff that I like & want to listen to. Often this can lead to some pretty self indulgent stuff being laid down that I think most people wouldn't really dig (e.g. 1.5 hour drones in an Eliane Radigue vein). Most of this kind of thing I usually leave in my archive for my o...
