Re: Digital vs analog synths synthesizer in a few sentences?

Not everything you learned on the interwebs was correct but at least you understand that both analog and digital synths have their strengths and weaknesses. I didn't get if you were actually looking to buy a certain synth and couldn't decide. In which case there are millions of places to research/he...

Re: So who runs Moog's YouTube channel? This is a little we

Yeah, this thread is terrible. It started funny but then got all political and ranty. After I read that the "big incident" was about the Daily Show, I almost punched myself in the face for wasting so much time. Sweep, for the love of god ... step away from the computer and go play your f%$#ing synth...

Modular on the Oscars!

Just caught a nice long shot of a modular behind the guy playing up in the balcony. Not quite sure what it was but I'm sure somebody in here does.

Re: What We Talk About When We Talk About Synths

If there was one Holy Grail synth, then how would I justify a whole room full keyboards to my wife? I'm stoked they all sound different, do different things and have different strengths and limitations.

Tempest gets some competition from Nord?

Just spotted this on MatrixSynth. A retro inspired drum machine thingy from Nord?

Look through this thread for some more details! Including a pic of my OBX-a guts and what the 8 full trays look like.

Re: "tuning" a Space Echo

Thanks for all the responses. I'm guessing the machine is in the zone, so I'll just have to decide if I want to keep it. About the tape: the first place blamed the tape I had in there so they made a new one. However they made it out of mastering tape which is too brittle for the Space Echo. Accordin...

Re: Way too good to be true...

I'm a fellow NYC craigslist synth hunter and I too actually wrote to this dude. I guessed it was a scam but I had to check simply because sometimes it's not. Last year? Maybe somebody else remembers. A guy posted an extremely low priced/sketchy description of an ARP on NYC Craigslist. Someone on the...

"tuning" a Space Echo

So my RE-201 has been to two repair shops and has had $300 bucks worth of "repairs" etc. by pretty qualified guys. Motor working fine, everything cleaned, de-maged and new tape. After several hours of playing at home, I'm just not getting what I want out of it. I know there is a lot of wow, flutter ...

Re: New Solvent Tracks w/historic CS5

Ha, I love it! Rooftree is mad because I didn't want my hopefully interesting and topical thread to end with such harsh criticisms of someone's musical tastes instead of more intelligent OT conversation. Somehow I'm to blame for HIM hijacking the thread and turning it into a moderator bashing session.

Re: What was your first Moog?

1983 and I was like 12. My older brother was in a cover band and always brought home keyboards to try out. One day he brought home a MOOG Liberation. Back then, I remember it being so big and heavy that I certainly couldn't strap it on but god did I want to play with that thing! It was like a guitar...

Re: New Solvent Tracks w/historic CS5

Sorry, I couldn't let a thread about such a cool synth project end on such a sour note:

Nannerfan, regardless of your feelings toward Matt and Kim (not familiar with their music myself) or the gear they choose to use, V301H is entitled his/her opinion without such harsh criticism.

P.S.-- Looks like Jason (SOLVENT) is not only IN this very rad looking movie, he's scoring it as well. Check it out:

Yep rooftree, that's the one. I remember having high hopes as well but then listening to the tracks and being very underwhelmed. It's too bad, that could've been cool.

Re: New Solvent Tracks w/historic CS5

Yeah, I seem to recall a whole CD somebody put out like 2 years ago featuring one "classic" synth only for each track. But overall, I love the Solvent sound and now when anybody wants to know what a CS5 sounds like AND/OR needs to be schooled on what you can do with some patience and one synth, we c...
