Re: The Lost Art of Single Shot Samples!

So, I think the near future at least is ever more articulations, and back end "intelligence" to "help" give more convincing performances automatically, with the ability to get in there and tweak for your own needs. Latest Yamaha arrangers, like two-three last generations of Tyros and higher-end PSR...

Re: New polysynth project - now with 8 voices & bitimbrality

One more video - I made it to test Behringer phaser with my string machine, however it features drum sounds from this new poly - this time properly recorded from mixer, instead of camera mic ;-)

Re: New polysynth project - now with 8 voices & bitimbrality

New feature - drum kit mode! Selecting any program from 120-127 range switches on the drum mode. Presets 120-127 are then loaded into subsequent voices, which are triggered according to GM drum map. Additionally, currently selected preset is open for editing. Voice 1 - preset 120 - kick (C1 - #36) V...

Re: MiniMoog bargain clone wars heat up

That's a shame. Why are they stopping? Can't they just buy more parts? AFAIK nothing in there is made of unobtainium. Maybe the night-shift is too expensive? They said that they had old transistors used in filter reissued for them (TIS97 I suppose?) - maybe it was one-off batch, and they ran out of...

Aren't keyboards the same between the two?

Well, unison mode on DX7II is pure magic too :D

Re: New polysynth project - now with 8 voices & bitimbrality

I can see the usefulness, however I'm not sure if I can handle whole MIDI clock syncing thing software-wise, as I never did that before and it looks like pretty tricky business. We'll see.

Portamento is non-quantized. That glissando was just played on keyboard ;-)

Re: Goldfrapp Synth Interview in MT

there is a KORG35 VCF (same as MS-20 Mk1) on every single note on the PS-3300 with resonance (although its calibrated somewhat more tamely than the MS-20!) but only a basic single pole low pass per note on the Polymoog's Polycom cards (there really to brighten sounds at higher velocities to piano l...

Re: New polysynth project - now with 8 voices & bitimbrality

What would you say are the unique aspects of your beast? I'd say that ringmods are still pretty rare among vintage or modern analog polys, so that's one. I took it directly from my previous synth - it's standard MC1496 application. I'm really proud of that DX tubu;ar bells patch coming from analog ...

New polysynth project - now with 8 voices & bitimbrality :-)

Somewhere around 2015 I started new polysynth project - analogue rackable desktop module, with multimode filter. It even had its thread here, unfortunately it got accidentally nuked during spam wars. In the meantime I still worked on it, and now I can show you hopefully final prototype :-) This synt...

Roland has patch memory and sequencer - it isn't direct mini clone.

Re: Do synths today still use backup batteries to hold patch

Most use some kind of flash memory or EEPROM for holding patches, which doesn't require backup battery.

Re: ELEX K4 String Machine - fixed :-)

Great find Adamstan! Two channel BBD chorus only huh? I think it sounds richer than a Solina! Yeah, surprisingly rich :-) And the chorus is really minimalistic - two channels, modulated by dual LFO (mixed slow and fast waveforms), which is inverted for the second channel. Some years ago I had Solin...
