ELEX K4 String Machine - fixed :-)

Recently I acquired this rare italian string machine from mid '70s. Made by ELEX (Excelsiors short lived electronic division), rebadged by Farfisa and Hohner. Here you see Farfisa version. It was sold as non-working - the cable connecting the keyboard with PSU was missing, and - as it turned out aft...

Re: Looking for Hardware Midi Sequencer, maybe Yamaha QY

QY700, being the biggest of them all, has nice big, backlit screen, and is actually quite easy to use. However it isn't suited well for step-editing or recording - it's more like Cubase-in-a-box (the Atari one ;-) )

Re: ELEX K4 STRING MACHINE

Today I received a package that contained another version of this stringer - "String-Orchestra mod. 4" (and that would suggest it was rebadged by Farfisa). It is in pretty good shape, but lacks the PSU cable - that's why I got it very cheap :D http://wstaw.org/m/2017/06/01/WP_20170601_20_29_30_Pro_j...

Re: Ensoniq VFX SD mainboard troubleshooting

It isn't available as new part. However, AFAIR same VFD (not LED) display unit is used in TS10, TS12, EPS, ASR-10, ESQ-1 and SQ-80, so you can pull it from any of these.

Re: Another tape cover: The Twins - "Love System"

Thanks :-)

Something from Yazoo might be a good idea. I'm also thinking about Secret Service. "Flash in the night" maybe? Or "Fire into ice"?

Re: Another tape cover: The Twins - "Love System"

Yes, most of the italo lyrics are horrible - it's difficult to sing them with straight face ;-) Also I think that in this tune YOUR voice sounds better together with the synthesizer sound background and integrates better than The Twins lead singer itself :D :D Thanks - that's something :D As for the...

Another tape cover: The Twins - "Love System"

Something for Italo lovers :-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7iU5Obo9kI Here is the first recording when I thought "gee, it would be nice to have 16 track" ;-) There was a lot of bouncing needed to fit onto 8 tracks. I started by recording bass (Korg Poly 61) kick (Solton Programmer 24) and scratc...

Re: My cover version of Real Life - Send Me An Angel

Pretty nice :-) The only thing I'd change is in the solo part. The 16th note quantization doesn't work for it, it gets awkward in some moments because of that. But overall nice sound.

Thanks :-) I'm amazed, didn't expect anybody to prefer my version over original - but glad that you liked it.

Re: Behringer Deep Mind 12

That's right. I love to make those standard keyboard sounds on analogue synths. I promise - when I finish my current synth-in-the-works, the first preset will be fake piano :D

Re: What's going on with all the spam?

I will repost, when I get somewhere with that issue. However it looks like you were correct - the bleed propagates thru horribly routed power lines. I swear, I'll never use autorouter again on voicecard! I was lucky two times, but the luck has just ended ;-)

Re: Korg Monologue

No, it isn't necessary, but digitally generated envelopes are much cheaper. To have preset recall (or polyphony, or both), analogue EG circuit has to be voltage controlled, and that makes it much more complicated than simple circuit with variable resistors used to charge/discharge capacitor - they a...

Re: Original DX7 to DX7IID Sounds

"Envelope 4" would probably be envelope for 4th operator. AFAIK DX7 has 7 envelopes per voice - six amplitude envelopes (one for each operator) and pitch envelope.

Re: Original DX7 to DX7IID Sounds

They load just fine - sysex format for single patch is same for both. I can't comment on the sound differences, because I don't own brown DX7.
