Re: Wavedrum
Is the cowbell in it good? (Serious question, really!) No. The WaveDrum can generate a wide range of sounds, but it is still limited by its physical characteristics. If you move too far away from what it actually is - An electro-acoustic Djembe - the sounds loose realism. What most people forget is...

Re: Wavedrum
How programmable is it? There's a deep level of editing but the user interface is awful. One rotary encoder, 5 multi function buttons and a 3 digits display is all you get to edit hundreds of parameters. The first level of editing - "EDIT 1" - is relatively straightforward. It allows you to select ...

Re: Audio interface for around $200?
I hear Firewire interfaces are better but i wouldn't know. Anyone know any good brands in my price range? Should i buy new or used? pros cons? Firewire is not better than USB. These a just data transfer interfaces, choosing one or another doesn't affect performance or audio quality. The only releva...

Re: The E-mu long/short board thread...
Please tell me they still have Z-Plane filters.. and that they made it like a proteus2000/command station but that can also load samples? It has nothing of this. Just check the manual... It's ROMpling in its most basic form. This synthesizer offers a static set of samples (64MB of the old proteus l...

If you want to play isolated voice, just initialize a performance and load in it a single voice. It will sound as it is, without filtering or effects.

Re: Korg wavedrum
I will get one, for sure. I'm not longer interested in creating beats with sequencers or by cutting together loop samples. I've been doing this for ages and I have reached a dead end. These days I try to perform everything. No sequencing, no editing, no looping. I Just hit record and play. I only re...

Re: I just grabbed a FIZMO!!!
Thanks for these little demos balma
The first one is truly hypnotic. I love evolving sounds: hit one key, turn a few knobs and the journey begins... This is what makes synthesizers really unique. You'll never be able to do the same soundscapes with any other instruments.

I like it. $50 is nothing.
We need more fun and cheap little instruments.

Re: First Synth for an Industrial Musician
You could consider the DOEPFER Dark Energy . It's fully analog, with controllers and knobs for every features. It's a very simple synth, fun to use. It can sound really aggressive and raw. It has only a single oscillator but the dual LFO, the Frequency and Pulse Width modulation makes it really expr...

Re: Deactivating the fan in a Yamaha A5000?
Fair points. However; could a fan really be needed for cooling down the components? Take the Korg Triton for instance - a powerful synth with 7 effect processors vs the A5000's six. The Triton Extreme also has no fan afaik, and it has even more features under the hood (vacuum tubes etc). Yes, but a...

Re: Deactivating the fan in a Yamaha A5000?
The difference between the A4000 and A5000 is the polyphony (x2 for the 5000), multitimbrality (x2 for the 5000) and amount of effects (x2 for the 5000) . The extra processors will increase the heat by a few degree. In any case I wouldn't deactivate the fan. Would you deactivate a fan in your comput...

Re: Psyche - Tangerine Dream inspired ambient
I like it a lot.
I would like it even better if you could stretch it a little bit, if it would build itself slower... right now it feels a bit compact/busy.
You could maybe consider a longer edit, as a bonus
Very nice, anyway.

Re: 777, XS, MNM & MD
Nice :) The dark noisy bass sounds lovely. I also like all the sound effects in the background. It's great sound design/programming =D> The high pitched arpeggio could fade out at one moment, to create a pause in the track and to let other instruments emerge. I like the kicks, but I think they would...
