Re: The New Tom Oberheim SEM Thread

simple solution: buy a tiny patchbay... I've used this Rolls . :D There was an awesome point about halfway through the first one where the two patches synced up and it felt like the sound was moving through my head from one side to the other, awesome! :D Try the straight waveforms... Saw - 1:22 Pul...

Re: The New Tom Oberheim SEM Thread

Here some more stuff I found. The second link is kind-of a demo for the new SEM. Kind-of... So I was tweaking around today and ended up getting a little analytical. First, I was able to match a basic patch between an old and new. I didn't mess with the envelopes because I was really trying to match ...

Re: The New Tom Oberheim SEM Thread

Can't really say, yet. The one SEM in the TVS that has CV ins needs a jumper moved and the filter is at max at 75% of the knob. Not to mention, the SEMs in the TVS go through the output module(2 more gain stages to overdrive). I haven't tried matching too many sounds so far. I've mostly been stackin...

Re: The New Tom Oberheim SEM Thread

Well, I was gonna stay outta this for at least another week, but...what the h**l. http://1lmm.com/pub1/TVS/newvcs1.jpg That is a great description of the Programmer, CZ! Thanks for that. Nada, The Keyboard Electronics on the X-voices, I think, is the important part. That's where the voice assigning ...

Re: Oberheim SEM original cv/gate issue

Well, the jumpers between molex B and D might be the best place to start. Yay for warranties :D . The way I see it, if you can't access CV for VCO 2 through the normal procedure, it's broke. Even if it's happens to be the jumpers have been altered. You'd have to open the case to even see what was "w...

Re: Oberheim SEM original cv/gate issue

VCO1 is usually jumpered to VCO2, so you would normally only need a single mono cable connected to CV in. More info in my posts on pg 13 of the SEM thread. There could be an issue w/ the jumper or it may have been changed on purpose. If there is another jack for VCO2 or something, you can just split...

Re: Prophet 5 to Prophet 600 Comparison?

Here 's something I recorded in '07 with the P600 using the filter CV in. Filter tweaking was done from the knob box for the K5000, which was going to the Kenton Pro2k, which went to the P600 filter CV. Portamento and the slight pitch mod were from the P600. Single note Unison. Kinda peaky. The fil...

Re: Tom Oberheim to show new synth on Wednesday?

I can't help but think how awesome this is going to be with a couple moogerfoogers, especially the filter and ring mod. I mean I would take a SEM with patch panel and handful of moogers over a voyager even, so long as the oscs sound huge and I'm sure they will. Just having a mooger filter will be s...

Re: Tom Oberheim to show new synth on Wednesday?

Are you talking about the new or old model? And if you're talking about the new one, does the same apply to envs 1 and 2? I was hoping what you are describing above was implemented in the patched out version of the new one, but it would certainly be easy to work around if not with splitter cables.....

Re: Tom Oberheim to show new synth on Wednesday?

How would you trigger the sem with just a pro solo? looking at the patch panel it looks like you could only trigger one oscillator at a time. Am I missing something? I was hoping to integrate the patch panel version into my setup but don't want to have to buy a new midi to cv converter. The first C...

Re: Tom Oberheim to show new synth on Wednesday?

OH MY GOD IT'S A MIRACLE. There is a VCA control patch point, which means I would be able to control this with my French Connection! I don't know how or if this affects your situation.... If the vca cv input is the same as the old, you have to flip the switch in the lower center of the SEM to the r...

Re: Tom Oberheim to show new synth on Wednesday?

Look at the VCO knobs. They're not the dual concentric. You can see the little trimmer to the right of them. Also, the logo is on the case, not the SEM.

Re: Synths midi reaction time constant?

Which was why I originally asked if a synths reaction time to midi was a constant delay. At the moment I have delay caused by the hardware's reaction time but also by Logic's midi output which is a mess... If the jitter in Logic is worse than the hardware delay...that's gonna make it difficult. Tha...
