Re: Tom Oberheim to show new synth on Wednesday?

xpander,

Re: Tell me about microphones and pres

Nice to see some thoughts on the Great Rivers. I've been looking at the MP-2NV. Sorry, I don't have more to add. I need this info, myself. Thanks, Joey!

Off to get popcorn....

Re: Synths midi reaction time constant?

In most sequencers you have a parameter to adjust midi delay to compensate for slow reacting midi hardware, hence why I asked if this delay would be constant. If the reaction delay is not constant, how can you reliably compensate in the sequencer? If your DAW only has one midi delay setting and you...

I've gotten by before using one of those little Rolls MX41 passive mixers. It goes both ways.:)

But seriously...madtheory's got it.

Re: Synths midi reaction time constant?

I can totally let it go but for me slop starts at 1ms ;) Ooh, I'm with that! Maybe the very small difference in numbers we observed is due to the interface, I use an Echo Layla's sole MIDI outstraight into the Expressionist, could be software too, tests were done in Live 7. I have to re-t...

Re: Synths midi reaction time constant?

In my experience the Expressionnist takes about 11-13ms to process MIDI to CV, If I recall correctly it varies for trigger types or CV/gate vs Hz/v. The jitter is under 3ms when sending only monophonic note info. MIDI slop can be a good thing sometimes, drum patterns with my MIDI Linndrum have a di...

Re: Synths midi reaction time constant?

Nice, cornutt! Thanks for the great in-depth explanation. john909kind, Are you referring to the Sonar thread ? If you are, that was me making those bold statements. But, understand I am speaking from the experiences with my particular system. I have found that individual device response has been the...

Re: Tom Oberheim to show new synth on Wednesday?

This could be a good opportunity for someone to start a little sideline making patch panels for these! Yeah, and there are some good designs out there, already. Maybe someone making panel for modulars could pick that up. The tedious wiring is still whats get me. That's why I'd pay for kits :) . I'v...

Re: Tom Oberheim to show new synth on Wednesday?

Wati, so what you are saying is that the SEM has an incredibly high freq range? (for some maybe, but I can hear 80khz no sweat  ) You lucky bastard  :D ! Anything above 16khz sounds like my juno turned all the way up. Just noise. But, yeah it's got some range. I decided to push a little ...

Re: Tom Oberheim to show new synth on Wednesday?

Ok, just did a little test and found this noteworthy. I monitored the TVS through the Fireface at 192khz. DIGICheck extends its Spectral Analyzer all the way to 81khz. I did an upward high-pass filter sweep with full resonance at C4. When I got to the top this is what I got: http://1lmm.com/pub1/TVS...

Re: Tom Oberheim to show new synth on Wednesday?

Or likewise, making that midi-cv box control more than just pitch and filter (i.e. have control of all parameters... that would create some sort of patch saving ability too). But either would be preferable to just a stock unit I think given the current competition... ...or how about selling "mod ki...

Re: Tom Oberheim to show new synth on Wednesday?

Thank you, Mr. Oberheim. =D> \:D/ Two(more), please. Discussing sound(and price) is pointless, to me. Mainly because, as others have eluded to(xpander,0000 - you guys are such teases! :) ), of what is on the inside. Besides, of all these modern re-releases of oldies, I expect this one to sound 100% ...

Well, after listening to nothing but this track all afternoon, I think I can say I really dig this track =D> . It's a timing kinda thing, too. Nice dark, rainy day. Needed a good distraction... Normally, when I listen to anything audio on my computer, I have the DIGICheck tool that works with most RM...
