Re: What 80s songs can the DX7 Tubular Bells be heard on?

Major bonus points for mentioning Dali's Car. Even more major bonus points for mentioning my favourite track by them. Well, thank you, aXL! It's mine, as well. It never gets old. It reminds me of late night rainy drives through the city and getting dumped. :) The fretless bass on some of the other ...

Re: Which synthesizer(s) do you regret getting or selling

Getting: A Matrix-6 from GC. It never worked right. Totally unusable and now sits in the closet. I don't regret getting a Matrix-6, I just regret getting that one . Selling: 1989 - Some girl I hardly knew(met her at the mall :) ) gave me an SH-101. Her parents got it for her to learn piano on ...

Re: Analog heavy Trance

I really enjoyed the track! It does seem to capture something from a couple of musical periods. I'd even say the vocal patch feels "80s sampler" :) . Nice. Thanks for posting it. I understand where mome rath and TrondC are coming from but, personally, I didn't have a problem with it. I think the lin...

Re: The Moog Source reliability

Late the party, as usual. I have had very minimal experience with a Model D and none on the new gen. I have had my Rogue for about 18 years and the Source for only 2. Comparing these two just wouldn't be fair. So, I can't judge on sound, really. Reliability I can tell you a little about. My Source w...

Re: MACKIE ONYX 1620

What would you recommend around the 900-1200 USD mark with the above capabilities and high-quality sound? That might warrant it's own thread. Others may be able to help but are not be looking in a 1620 thread. Unfortunately, I can't be of much help. The specs you listed are out of my scope of exper...

Re: calling all akai s3000xl owners...

Ok, mine is a non-XL 3000(still bitter). Maybe you can ask Memsolution(I can't find it in English. Maybe I'm blind.). I have their memory adapter for mine so I can use regular SIMMS(Finally!).

Why can't I find the English? I dealt with them, somehow.

Re: MACKIE ONYX 1620

I use a 1640, right now. It has served me well the last couple of years. I didn't like that the EQs came after the direct outs(same goes for the firewire outs). So, I got one from Front End Audio that had the EQ mod to fix this. I still went with an RME Fireface 400 for my interface. I felt it was b...

Re: Help with Linn LM-1 Drum Computer.

No prob. Glad I could help. I have to admit, I did examine this a little more. I think this might be an easier way to describe it. The DC offset is a side-effect of the problem. The sample being overdriven seems to be the issue. It looks and sounds like it is happening before it gets to the VCF. Tha...

More towards the end. Can't miss 'em.

Love this song!

Re: Help with Linn LM-1 Drum Computer.

Here 's a good explanation of of DC Offset. With pictures :D . I like pictures. Pictures help with this. After further review there may be more going on. Looking at your hits and comparing them to mine, I see the offset but it also looks to be cutting the samples off a little early on yours. I have...

Re: Help with Linn LM-1 Drum Computer.

I hear it and I see it. There is a DC offset in the VCA env( (I think it's a VCA?). Therefore, it clicks at the start and end of each sound and sounds overdriven...because it is. I'm sure you know what DC offset is and, of course, this is internal not a front volume slider. There's gotta be a little...

Re: a few questions about Auralex and its ilk...

Being someone who was in your situation, having had Auralex provide the (free)room layout mentioned and currently using the Sonoflat SFS-112 kit in basically a 12x12 box with the little closet...for basstraps...I gotta agree with madtheory. They aren't cost effective. The panels work great for upper...

Re: Insane, Unique, Thick Chorus

I don't know if it's just mine or all of them, but it makes horrible crackling noises if I put high frequencies of significant volume through it. (The input meter is nearly pegging anyway, when it occurs) It's also kind of noisy. I'm pretty sure it's expecting an instrument level input like a guita...

Re: CS-15 question

...it's a very unusual feature, I've never seen it on anything else. Which is what makes me wonder why the CS15 doesn't have oscillator sync. That Glide function is BEGGING to make sync sweeps. I totally agree. I would love to hear osc sync more than serial filters on the 15(not that I don't want b...

Re: CS-15 question

I think they're(the EGs) wired multi-trigger. I had to pull the CV cables to make sure I remembered correctly. You can set them to single trigger, like you want, by playing it/them through a Midi to CV converter. Both the Kentons and the Encore Expressionist let you choose the trigger mode. The enve...
