Jomox xbase 09... outputs unbalanced?

I just picked up a Jomox xbase 09 and I'm wondering if it's outs are unbalanced? The manual doesn't specifically say, it simply uses the term "jack plugs." Does anyone know for sure? I would assume the outs are unbalanced, most analog gear is. The levels are hot on this thing. If my soundcard is swi...

Thats the problem, tiny knobs and large hands don't mix. I like the idea of large knobs. Thus I'm digging the idea of these special edition 888s and 999s.

Re: JoMoX XBase 999 vs 888

Thanks for taking the time to post/respond. I appreciate it. That's what I suspected after reading numerous user reviews. They do sound different, but only slightly. I have heard the 'metallic sound' pointed out several times now. Considering I'm looking for an analog drum machine that sounds nice (...

Re: Ridiculous eBay 'Buy-it-now' and starting bids.

I've always been interested in economics and pricing strategies for business. One thing I've learned through the years is a lot of people refuse to get over the conservative human condition of refusing to let go of something due to the fear of loss and ego protection. Understandably human, but a hur...

Re: JoMoX XBase 999 vs 888

Cool. From looking at the specs and the machines' interfaces, it appears the xbase 888 and 999 are the same except for the "X-filter." To quote Jomox: "because it has no X-Filter, the XBASE 888 is more affordable than the 999." I'm guessing its marketing, but the meme on the net keeps saying the 888...

JoMoX XBase 999 vs 888

Does anyone here have a JoMoX Xbase 999 'producer edition'? How are the pots? Are they sturdy? If you place a force on them from the side do they move? Or, are they fairly immobile? I have an Mbase 01. From what I can tell the standard edition of the Xbase 999 uses the same pots as the Mbase 01. The...

Alesis RA300 amp repair?

Hi all, My Alesis RA300 amp isn't functioning correctly. It's out of warranty so I'm free to bring it, or send it, wherever I want. Unfortunately no locals have experience with this amplifier. I live in WI, I'd prefer to not send it far away. Are any of you from the upper Midwest? If so, do any of y...

Re: How do I get a stronger signal?

Yes, education and the truth are important. Speaking of education, I'd like to look into this matter further, IE measuring an analog signal as it converts into a digital signal at the point of an AD/DA converter. -18db in your daw is generally analog 0 anyway... ^^^Any links that look into this?^^^

To the best of my knowledge, it should be this way.

Re: How do I get a stronger signal?

Mackie have fudged these specs before, by making 0VU= 0dBu. That probably caused a lot of distorted recordings, giving ADAT decks a bad name. Yea... Unfortunately I can't comment about the above, but I know what you mean. The same phenomenon happened in the cycling wheel industry. Standards put som...

Re: How do I get a stronger signal?

Hmmm...

I read this last night, some stats and points were made that I was unaware of.

At this point, I'm convinced the new cables are fine. But, I'm still researching. Thanks for all the comments everyone.

Re: How do I get a stronger signal?

but the Mackie is sending +4dBu out of RCA and balanced outs? Just the balanced outs. Mackie's manual doesn't refer to its balanced signal as +4dBu, it only refers to it as a "balanced signal." It says that the RCA outs are unbalanced. It does say, in the "noise characteristics" section: "main out ...

Re: How do I get a stronger signal?

Why do you want to clip your AD convertors? -12dBFS is actually a really good area to be peaking in, that's what you should be aiming for. I don't want to clip, it was simply a basis point for measurement. If my input signal is relatively controlled, IE I don't have to be concerned about signal spi...

How do I get a stronger signal?

Hello everyone, its been a while. I was using a pair of Monster "Studiolink 500" unbalanced RCA to 1/4 cables to connect a Mackie d2 mixer to my Delta 1010 sound card. The cables are 8ft in length. If I set the RCA input levels of the d2 mixer to float around 0 and set the 'main' level to 'max' I co...
