Re: Hartmann Neuron vs. Korg Oasys

If you really want to spend that amount of money go for a Solaris... I'd also be very wary of spending 4000 Euros on a discontinued digital synth.

You're right on every count and obviously well across potential issues. Guess I should have kept quiet  just wasn't sure of your level of knowledge...

Re: MIDI Rack Mixer Advice

MOTU made a 1U mixer with MIDI control over level, pan, bass, treble and 2 aux sends. 7 stereo ins, used to have one. I think it had a 'snapshot' mode which is what you're after.

Re: Novation Rack Synth As Dedicated Filter?

That's good to know. So far, the SBS is looking like it will be significantly more useful for me. I'm officially on yet another pseudo-vintage under-appreciated but hard to find MIDI module quest. I'd still like to know if the MIDI-CV converter can convert CC messages into a 0V -> +5V CV signal. Th...

Re: DSI - Poly Evolver PE Conversion

Shouldn't be any loss in resolution as pots are continuous value changing. Just depends what res the pots are scanned at. It's not just a pot replacement, it's a board replacement.

Re: Official CV/Gate modification on the Little Phatty

I'm glad that people are already bringing up the idea of kits. I think that the 199 price/having to ship the unit is a little excessive, and is in line with my primary complaint about the LP in general. Does anyone know exactly what they are doing, i.e. does anyone have any schematics or tutorials ...

Re: POST ANY INTERESTING EBAY AUCTIONS HERE!!!

Sorry, but you don't see these very often in the UK - possibly serial no 0001? (!)

If only I had the space, and could justify the £2,000.

Re: The New Tom Oberheim SEM Thread

It's a CV input, so it'll accept variable voltages. It's connected to the same place the Envelope is, actually on the circuit it looks as if you can only use the external CV when you switch to 'EXT' on the front panel, ie the external CV replaces the envelope.

Re: Tom Oberheim to show new synth on Wednesday?

Also, there are a lot of monosynth in the new and used market available in this price range that sound good, many of which are more feature rich… So I think the sound is of incredible importance for this unit. It’s a make or break proposition for me. Used market really doesn't count here, you can a...

Re: CV Compatibility between SH-101 and Mono/Poly

They both use 1V/octave for pitch. The gates I'm not sure about but would be surprised it it didn't work. Just plug it in and try it, the worst that can happen is that it won't trigger.

Re: SSM Chips. Are they compatible with each other?

Highly unlikely. They'll likely use different component values to acheive the end results, you could end up damaging them if you don't know what you're doing. Not a good idea given their scarcity.

Re: Why Aren't More Classic Synths Produced Today?

I understand the small markets and such that prevent neato reissues, but what I don't understand is the cost of electronics. I thought components keep getting cheaper and cheaper. And surely there must be newer, quieter, and lower power op-amps and the like in comparison to 30 yrs ago. Wrong, it's ...

Re: Why can't anyone release a small VA with analog filters ?

There were synths that sort of did this. They were digital tone generation products with analog filters. The "VA" part is more of a catch phrase. Some do model actually analog circuits but many don't. The difference is minimal. Here are machine I know of that were digital/analog hybrids PPG 2.2 PPG...
