Re: Value of an SCI Prophet 5

Personally, with the rising cost me Prophet-5s in the last year, I would say around $3,000, but start out with $2,500. Again, that's only what I think...

Re: so many synthesizers, someone help me before i lose my mind

I read the recommendations above, and they're all good. I'm assuming you want polyphonic and not monophonic synths. For vintage analog polys, the Oberheim OB-Xa and OB-8 synths are great, and sound really good. Only downside is that they're loaded with CEM chips that can fail at anytime (don't let m...

Re: Quality or Quantity?

Well, it certainly depends on what you're looking for in analog sound, but if you are looking for a really vintage analog polyphonic sound, the poly CS series is fantastic. It is the perfect intersection of reliability and... well... what's the word? Imprecision? It is the perfect intersection of b...

Re: My first gig!

I don't understand what happened at about 1:32 in the second video...a fight broke out or something, and the performer knocked his stuff over?

Re: [ambient pop] Nowhere to be and all day to get there

I wouldn't call it pop, but it's awesome nonetheless. I can imagine it in an action movie soundtrack.

What did you use for the pads and choirs?

Re: This is so crazy (Jupiter 4 prices)

yeah, for that money, get the ''cheap'' one at 2000$ and take the 10 000$ for psy consultation I'm sorry, but if you pay more than $1000-2000 for a guitar then you're on some serious drugs. That's some very narrow thinking. You're only saying that because you're not a guitarist. I'm going to have t...

Re: Your Opinion of the Roland sh-2

The typical '70 Roland sound. Fast envelopes, nice hair, a cool little punchy synth. I've got a SH09, the same but with only one VCO. Here is my little demo of this synth, all sounds come from the 09 ! Damn, that made ME want one, and I didn't even want the synth originally! Nice demo! Quite the ha...

Re: This is so crazy (Jupiter 4 prices)

You know what is crazy? This: "Hi I can offer u 100 cash,... its like 15+ years old keyboard , u know that :) let me know..." This is in response to me selling my Casio CZ-1000 w/RA-3 cart. By his logic, anything 15 years old or more shouldn't be worth more than $100. Between people wanting s**t fo...

Re: Vocoder/ Wiard 300 Series Experimental Track

Very nice! I like the creepyness of it all and the space ship sound deals. You know what I mean.

I wish I could afford a Wiard modular. :(

Re: KORG DS-10 for Nintendo DS

I just started playing the "game." Sounds very video gamish, but not in a bad way. Easy to use, easy to edit the synth, easy sequencer. I highly recommend this title.

I found that funny, but no one answered whether the cross-modulation on the OB-1 is similar to that in the OB-X. :P Why I am asking is that the OB-1 cross modulation I found to be similar to modulars in some aspects, and I'm wondering if the OB-X has that too.

Is the cross modulation system on the OB-X the same as the one on the OB-1?
