Re: New analog boxes from Korg?

Few more thoughts. Liking the look of the tempo divide options on the Keys. Curious as to how having three oscs in the Bass will shape up. Not a bad thing obviously, but unusual as otherwise it follows 303 form quite closely. Slide! Motion sequencing on the Beats only for the "Stutter" perhaps? Smar...

Presumably yes, now that we can see it does indeed have PCM sounds.

Re: New analog boxes from Korg?

The "stutter" effect seems to be a big deal on the Beats box. One of the knobs looks like it says "PCM Speed" but I would expect it to be analogue so maybe that's something else.

Re: New analog boxes from Korg?

Three VCOs on that bass synth.

Who expected a new MicroPreset? Those things sound pretty good, used one for a while and using the "traveller" with the synth presets you can get some really tasty filter action.

Re: Proof that Roland are indeed insane.

Everyone has that internal-snobbish-ego that leads them to believe what they do and how they do it is the right way to be artistic. It's like people who dislike genres and make it a point every time they can. I don't think those are quite the same thing. For most people there probably wouldn't be a...

Re: Reason 7 announced--external MIDI!!!!

Well I can say for a fact that v4 files don't work with v2.5, never used later versions. You can make .rns files self contained, but they aren't so by default (which is a pain, but again this may have been fixed in later versions). And I don't see how backwards compatibility would work with devices...

Re: Reason 7 announced--external MIDI!!!!

Not having external MIDI was always primarily a philosophical design move for Reason though wasn't it. Reason files were fully self-contained and completely backwards compatible with older versions. I guess they've found a way to do it via the rack extensions that doesn't compromise their principles...

Re: Proof that Roland are indeed insane.

None of us have a problem with the cabaret crowd - and I personally think Roland caters for a necessary market. My own issue is that they still additionally try and provide for our market niche, and what they bring is wide of the mark and ignorant of current trends. I suspect they see it more as "s...

Re: 8bit osc+Analog filter synth

Not quite sure what you mean by 8bit osc (other than literally an 8bit digital waveform I suppose...) but I would suggest you check out an Evolver. It's surprisingly good for doing "chiptune" type sounds and has 12/24db/oct filters. You've got variable cycle pulse waves, a four track step sequencer ...

Re: 8bit osc+Analog filter synth

monomachine is not analog. chiptune = digital ...why are you mentioning analog :? I think this is a key point. Not much room for "analogue warmth" in chiptune land. What you probably want is something with colourful DACs rather than an analogue filter. Right, apart from the analogue filter in one o...

Re: Ableton Live 9!

Not tried it yet but if I may be permitted a little moan - I really like Live, it's the best thing for my purposes and I've been using it since version 2.0 but really at this point I can't help being slightly aghast at how they still haven't addressed what I'd consider some basic omissions, particul...

Allegedly, as a nice bonus, if have a MIDI mod fitted it will work as a CV -> MIDI converter too.

Re: Monotribe CV control

That would be ace wouldn't it? Maybe the next update? ;-)

Still, I'm a bit surprised people aren't expressing more excitement about this.

Also there'll be a bit of a market for cables if anyone feels like making some up.
