New Firewire Interfaces, Lacking Proper MIDI outs?

We can go on for days and days discussing various interface's sound quality etc but for me one of the main things is controlling external gear. Right now Im already using a 1 MIDI out setup which basically sends clock to an oldschool MIDI Time Piece, which then sends that clock signal out. Id like t...

That can be done in Performance mode. I believe you can layer up to eight sounds at once. Keep in mind that the TX81Z's polyphony is 8 voices, though. You could solve that by setting up two TX81Z's and putting them in MIDI "Odd and even" mode for a 16 voice system. I talked to a guy who did that, e...

if your synth doesn't have trs outputs and your audio interface does you can cause potential phase cancellation issues with trs cables. ok, but if its plugged into a mixer before going into an interface, shouldnt be a problem. Most mixers that accept 1/4 inch will separate it into stereo, and mixer...

Are unbalanced 1/4 " cables obsolete when we have TRS?

OK OK so this topic isnt really about synths. whatever. I was thinking about just getting rid of all my 1/4 inch cables and just using balanced ones. There are a few exceptions, as with dual unbalanced to dual rca cables. Why are unbalanced cables even around still? I dont get it. As far as I know, ...

Well as far as the type of cv/gate it sends, does it work though?
I know the cables just need to be sorted out, but different brands use different types of cv/gate. I know yamaha is compatible with korg and paia, but not roland.

Is Roland cv/gate compatible with Moog?

Quick question.
I just got a Moog Taurus II and was wondering if a Technosaurus Microcon synth (which uses Roland style cv/gate) would transfer its cv/gate messages out to the Taurus.

dougt traded me a 707 battery lid for a Kawai memory card. Good trade.

Any quick way to diagnose if everythings ok? I know the voices going out is common.

what worked for my friend is he would keep the the pa/amp volume really low, set it to high out out and turn the volume on the synth up higher, i dunno sounds a lil weird but it worked for him thats sort of what Im doing. also a filter set to the right setting would eliminate most of the noise cus ...
