burning chips is easy. just find out what kind of eprom chips your device uses, and look at the supported chips spec of any burner. there are tons of em out there... i got one on ebay. then research online about the type of formatting the samples need for that machine. there is a dos app that will c...

I'm not asking if analog matters, thats personal preference. I'm asking if you send a digital synth or a soft synth through high end ad/da converters, analog tube compressors/limiters, mic pres, etc (the wholes works), will you still notice that its digital once recorded in a mix. yes. i think it y...

this is not leaving an accurate representation of the situation at all. sure all digital gets converted to analog, but that doesn't at all mean that digital has nothing to do with the sound. ...............the results are not as simple as general terms you seemed to use. Well, the terms i "seem to ...

Analog will ALWAYS matter in the end, because you can't hear electronic music without (analog) amps. There's no such thing as a true digital amplifier! Yes, I know things exist that people call 'digital amps', but they're more or less just putting the converters into the speakers. It still has to b...

Instead of getting into some dumb argument over sampllers versus analogue drum machines, can someone who actually owns both a tr-808 and at esx-1 compare the two and let us know their findings. After owning two tr808s at various times over the last 12+ years, I've found that nothing approaches the ...

So, it's really that easy? Each sampler...even at 44.1khz / 16 bit...makes samples sound different to my ears...and my ears aren't that good, but I can still tell. Ad/DA converters for each machine change the way samples sound. If you've ever used a real TR-606, you would know that the sequencer ma...

An ES-1 can easily be an 808... sorry, but not even remo0tely close on a good day. h**l, most things that people think can be an 808 can't be. i have an 808, and it is the most wonderful analog drum machine ever, hands down. the texture and live playability of the original is unsurpassed. the 909 i...

So it looks like the Drumstation is the best choice. I just looked them up. You can even edit the tones! Very cool. About how much do they go for? Oh and about the EPS, unfortunately it can't handle bass frequencies, (much less the 808 bass drum) because it's only 12 bits. you can find a drumstatio...

you can get a drumstation for a few hundred dollars, and that gives you the 909 and 808 together. you can sequence that from a computer... maybe using numerology to get that old school sequencer vibe. other than that, i'd get an older sampler with analog filters to get a warm tone, then use samples ...
