I love the idea, appreciate the work and effort, but still $2000 too much.

I edited my post to not offend anybody who can't handle me criticizing the price of a synth. Apparently we're in Red Square.

Gillian - (racks) two Voyetra 8's, (keys) Prophet-5 on top, Oberheim OB-Xa on bottom. Oberheim OB-Xa!? where? afaik, New Order never did use an OB-Xa, or did they?. Micke They absolutely had an OBX-a. On Perfect Kiss, it's the main uh...Oberheim pad in the chorus and the rocked out ending. T...

I didn't either, until someone pointed it out to me, and then I did indeed spot it in a studio session. Apparently it was used on Low-Life a bit. They essentially replaced their Source with it.

You sure you're talking about an Akai AX-80 ?[/quote]

I coaxed some thick, low timbres outta mine! Can't speak for others. How much thicker can a digitally generated DCO get back then?

Ha ha ha... at first I thought you were talking about the user manual! I was going to say I thought it was alright! :D

Otherwise... yeah I'm not too fond of it, but mine's in rough shape to begin with. Can you replace it with something BETTER?

NOTHING sounds like the Yamaha CS-20M, 40M and 70M range. They are definitely unique beasts and possibly my favorite analog series. I have a 40M coming to me in a few days, it is my dream analog. (Might have two coming :) ) Like someone above me said, don't expect it to sound like an Oberheim, Rolan...

Just but a 2x. It has like twenty some polyphony and a about a 1000 patch spots. No aftertouch. I own a NL3 and love it, because of the aftertouch and the 400 sounds I made in it. If my 3 were to break... I'd buy a 2x.

So from what I gather, stay 2007 and above or below 2005 on the Andromeda. I really would like one. I just don't want to go through any headaches.

Choosing between an Andromeda and Prophet'08.

Any owners want to throw their opinions at me? I love all the features of the A6. It seems like great designed synth as far as power in crating sounds, modulation etc. But I am just too damn scared of all the problems I have heard about them. Also, what note priority is it in mono/unison? Any other ...

I'm almost certain that it's DCO. But those DCO's sound fantastic. Really thick. I think it goes like this: AX-60 - VCO, AX-73 - DCO, AX-80 - DCO. Be careful about the AX-80. It uses membrane switches and at some point, they will break. That's what happened to mine.

Alesis Andromeda

Is the Andromeda really as buggy as some of the reviews state it is? I've noticed a lot of A6's in the studio pics at the top of the forum and thought I'd finally find out. Does it matter if it's an older one?
