Re: I refuse to buy anymore vintage pieces.

Hi, You consider the synths you mention future proof because the company that makes them is still established and can service them. For me you are taking a wrong approach to the thing (or it may be that you change synths often enough so that you do not have to worry whether they will still be worki...

All chips have a limmited lifespan of about 30 years, so in about 10 years from now all CEM and SSM synths will breakdown. Discreate synths will outlive the chip synths. I swear I don't work for them, but once again, Studio Electronics... all discrete! :D The Future Retro thingy sounds amazing too.

Hey Mistercooper...

I jsut noticed your set-up in your signature, and I'm actually jealous. Because, you have a very streamlined set-up. I believe that's the most productive! I know it's off topic, but I have been desiring to streamline my set-up, because I have too many synths, and it actually get's in the way of maki...

Re: FireBox good, MOTU better?

I'm hoping you get that key fixed, so you don't yell at me!

I'm sure it's just a contact issue.

Here it comes.......

GAS is a terrible thing for those who actually want to make music.. at least for some people. I noticed that the more gear I acquired, the less music I produced. I'm pretty content with the gear pile I have now (although my studio is in pieces right now with everything out for service) but I'm stil...

No clue. But that's a h**l of a synth! Too bad Yamaha never followed up on the AWM/FM synthesis, using samples instead of sine waves. The wonderful news is... the Nord Wave is based entirely upon this idea... with knobs!

Re: FireBox good, MOTU better?

I had a FireBox for quite a while until I recently pawned it off on my singer. I had good results with my iMac (Intel) and PowerBook G4, and I liked how it worked on Mac. Now I have upgraded to a MOTU Traveler which I found for around $500, and I love it! There is one thing that I miss about my Fir...

I refuse to buy anymore vintage pieces.

Unless it's a grail piece for me, like an ARP Quadra, I won't buy a vintage synth again. Basically, for me, it does not make any financial sense to buy a classic analog anymore. 1) They are all at the definite age that they need serious and costly repairs. (Trust me I know. My OBX-A, EML 101, ARP So...

Is she singing into the ms20 for the chorus ? amazing Yes, she is controlling the oscillators with her voice by singing into the pitch-to-cv jack on the MS-20. They do this all over Black Cherry as well, check out the first song Crystalyne (mispelled  ). The chorus and end are brialliant uses...

Okay Doepfer fans...

MAQ16 or Schaltwerk? Does the Schaltwerk have the instant forwards/backwards changing capability? Also, is the Schaltwerk as fun and inspirational as the MAQ? That's an important thing. I am looking for maximum cv outs, so it's between two MAQ's or a Schaltwerk. Any opinions, or owner feedback would...

Try adding more RAM.
