Re: New synth player here

The best advice I can give is to understand and get to know your synth inside and out. Forget piano techniques. They really don't apply to synthesizers, at least if you want to be an interesting synth player. Your on the spot and improvisational techniques are what will make you solid, and that appl...

Re: Any new modulars similar to EML?

You can definitely piece together an EML style synth in Euro. Check out Muff Wiggler, great modular forum, lots of users from here and vice versa.

I never even thought about the XS. I will now do some research!

MoPho Keyboard VS ProOne; how badass is the Mopho?

I keep thinking about grabbing a Pro One as I love it's noisy, squawky Fad Gadget sound, and it's bass rules, but I keep hearing that the Mopho is actually very nice sounding. The demos I have heard do sound pretty good, but the sounds are not the kind I would make. I owned a Prophet 08 and hated th...

Re: The Dead Weather & Dean Fertita

He uses kinda the same setup I do for that style of music; Nord Electro 2/3 and Moog LP run through a pedal board essentially identical to Jack Whites. It's all about the pedal choices! I used to hate Big Muffs on synths, now I LOVE the sound.

Re: Nord Lead vs Nord Wave

I have a NL3 and the Wave. The 3 is something utterly different, it's a super digital pad machine. Not very virtual analog sounding at all, but on to the point... I have been wondering about the difference between the 2x and the Wave. The Wave has samples (load in ONLY) some digital waves, FM capabi...

AWESOME ones!

I know the Solina and Omni were on there. I'm sure there was some VCS3 for processing, but I would love to know what else was going into those amazing albums.

Re: Tantalum Caps in ARPs - You Have Been Warned!!

Yep EVERY Omni will die eventually unless they have been recapped, which is kind of a pain in the a*s.
With that said... I have an Omni II for sale that has been completely recapped! :-D

See, I feel the Carbon Copy is REALLY noisy on the higher frequencies. I sold it and bought a Malekko Echo 600B (awesome delay!). Also awesome are the EH Deluxe Memory Boy and the classic Memory Man.

Re: Modular Synthesizers ?

Well the question is what does polyphony in a modular mean to you? Would you really want to buy all the duplicate modules and spend a TON of money to play an 8 note chord that your Nord can do? I consider my modular polyphonic because I tend to have a variety of different melodic sequences, rhythmic...

Re: ARP Axxe - reliability?

Well, I have a Solus which is between the Axxe and the Odyssey. When I got it the second oscillator was dead, I had my repair man fix it which was a few years ago and have not had a single problem again. It is the only analog synth that I own that needs almost NO warmup time to tune too. I would go ...

Holy f**k, at least they put out an actual synthesizer and not another f**k workstation. This is obviously aimed at people who are kinda just getting into subtractive synthesis. I highly doubt anyone who has been using this forum for a long time will be buying this. With that said, I think it sounds...
