Just another thought - may or may not be possible...

What about getting a SCSI-IDE bridge, and then an IDE CompactFlash reader to attach to that?

There are people that claim they can hear the difference, but IMHO they're talking c**p.

Besides, if aliasing distortion is a problem in that situation, it will also be an issue as soon as you need to create a CD of the end result.

I'd send them a letter: 57 Harpur street, Bedford MK40 2SR, England.

Also, the main admin guy seems to be called Adrian Dolente, according to their WHOIS record.

Preference: Roland S760 / Akai S2000?

Ok - I don't doubt that this has come up a thousand times, but I'm putting a more broad spin on it. A specific question, but I'm also open to more general opinions... Which do you prefer - the Roland S760 or the Akai S2000 On a broader level, do you feel the Akai S-series or their Roland equivalents...

Sadly I'm a little old for school now (35), and don't have kids that I could send to school with the required layout! I actually know how to make PCBs (I've done many in my time) - I did a computer systems engineering degree about 15 years ago - I just don't really like doing it at home because it's...

Rick Jansen's Moog Filter

I'm planning to attempt to build Rick Jansen's Moog Filter, as detailed HERE . I'd actually like to build it as a standalone unit, kind of along the lines of the Moogerfooger MF101 However, the site's pretty old, and I've been unable to contact Rick with a few questions that I have about it, includi...

STANDARD floppy drives are definitely not IDE or SCSI compatible (I'm an IT tech, by profession, BTW), although the old LS-120 (and a couple of other) superfloppy drives are, and I guess it may be possible to FIND IDE or SCSI floppies if you hunted around enough - no doubt SOMEONE made them for some...

Thinking about it, you could also install a free version of Linux and a bunch of free Audio stuff for that on your Mac, too. :D

Giving you the benefit of the doubt as you said "LIKE" ProTools, and assuming that you just want freeware DAW software: Kristal is free and pretty good - check it out HERE - unfortunately PC-only. If you can live without MIDI, you can get Audacity HERE - it's a windows prog but will run on an Intel ...

I got hooked on synths after having seen John Carpenter's classic movies "Assault on precinct 13", "Halloween" and "The Fog" Curiously enough, I goot hooked on "Assault on Precinct 13" back in the 80's after hearing Bomb the Bass's "Megablast" (subtitled "Hip Hop on Precinct 13") and investigated t...

So what inspired you to get into synths in the first place?

Just a thought that spun off from the 'Duran Duran' topic, because I was very specifically captivated by a few early 80's tracks... As I said in that post, if it hadn't been for Planet Earth (and possibly a couple of Human League tracks like The Sound of the Crowd and Open Your Heart) I probably wou...
