Right back at tallowwaters - great to deal with - a straight up guy who went the extra mile to make for a very satisfactory trading experience.

I have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone else interested in dealing with him. :)

Oh... Also, while I think about it...

For the next few months I'll be doing it all with a Roland MC-09 and a Roland MC-808. Plus a mixer of some description.

That's minimal-ish. I WAS considering just two MC-09s, but I decided that it would be a bit TOO minimal.

So I can't just put samples on standard floppy disks and play them back from the unit? AFAIK you can - you'll need something like AkaiDisk (or maybe Chicken Systems' Translator) to do it, because the S1000 uses an Akai proprietary format, but it shouldn't be a problem. This is how I used to get sam...

Casio MT-30 My first recording setup was: An Amiga 1500 running OctaMED A Korg Poly 800 A cheap Radio Shack DJ mixer to combine the two sound sources... I ev...

That said: you should really find a 303, play with it, and decide for yourself. You may be that person that the 303 is made for. Or you may agree with the majority of us, you know? Or you may just find something else that pushes your buttons. +1 I personally quite like the MC-303. It's not up to wh...

welllll, to be totally anal, the Mr. Oizo sound comprises exactly of: a Yamah CS-5, a TR-606 and a akai s900 sampler. Anything else is overkill  Ah, I was going by the artist profile of Mr Oizo on VSE that says Flat Beat was done with an MS-20, TR-606 and an Akai S1000: The song's bass and scr...

save your pennies ... get a Korg MS-20 +1 - that'll give you an IDENTICAL "Mr Oizo" sound. Or (if you need MIDI or modern)... Although it's effectively doing the same job as the Ion, get an MS-2000 (or MS-2000R) - it'll get close and it's a pretty sexy second synth, with none of the reliability iss...

I believe that Tallowwaters is currently still selling a Kawai MS710 for $30...

That would do it. I don't think the sounds can be changed, but it's small and has MIDI in and out... I believe he's correct in his assertion that it's based on the K1 additive engine.

As someone who has owned 3 MC-303s and used both their internal sounds and the MIDI/sequencing capabilities, I'd say that the sounds aren't THAT bad, but the MIDI implementation is utterly hopeless. It CAN control other hardware on channels 1-8, but it does it REALLY badly and it's really flaky. Ser...

is the cz5000 as good as the cz1? how is the mid spec on this synth (or on any of the cz's?) in other words, can i control stuff via cc's or is it through sysex? and if its sysex, has anyone had luck setting up real time controllers? Although the numbers are confusing, the CZ-1 is actually the bett...

I have seen CZ-1's go for around 150 - 200 euro's while the CZ-101 often goes over the 300 mark. Sad but true! Got my CZ-3000 for 70 euro's tough, still good deals to be had on the rest of the CZ series. Yeah, it does happen, but I've been watching all of the CZ models on eBay US for months now (wa...

Do you mean the CZ-1000, rather than the CZ-1? Generally, a CZ-1 is gonna cost more than a CZ-101, cos it's WAAAAY better than the 101, whereas the 1000 is just a CZ-101 with full-size keys. At the moment, the CZ-101 is just trendy. IMO, the cost of the CZ-1000 will eventually overtake it, as the id...
