Re: Most physically attractive synths

Mopho keyboard.

And I'd vote for the V-synth (original) because of the useful and beautiful design of the sides, plus of course all those lights and beams and stuff. BUT I hate the way the brushed metal feels. I don't like touching it at all.

Next thread - most beautiful synths by touch.... :D

Re: Questions for paraphonic strings synth experts

I'v got an rs101 and agree with its quality of sound. I'v also got a delta and a Yamaha SK20. But I'm no technical expert. You can rule the SK20 out for good triggers though - it has a wierd first note priority. I remember someone complaining about this once. Its got some nice features though. The D...

Anyone mention Mrs Fiend from Alien Sex Fiend yet? On things liek the 12inch of 'Dead and Buried' she's inspirational.

Re: reflections on NOT having an Andromeda

Glad to hear bad things! But also I wanted to make the more general point about owning a 'mega-synth' - ARP 2600, CS80 etc... I really like having a lot of toys to play with. I like having a Korg Delta and a KS rack. Its fun to get them out and let them do their limited yet useful thing. Try and str...

reflections on NOT having an Andromeda

Its got such a huge reputation. And on my last birthday I gave in and ordered one. It never arrived and the guy I bought it from has been a real arsehole at refunding me. Its taken lawyers and threats to get anything back. And while I waited I had to pass up on 2 good second hand ones. So I'v kind o...

If its working you've got a bargain - good first buy as you can put some enthusism into exploring it.
Is the backlight working? You may want to factor in the cost of a replacement. Those tiny screens can be aweful hard on your eyesight.

Re: New FS1r computer editor

This is good to know - "the most pwerful synthesizer in the world"! At the moment I just rely on using a wavestation (which otherwise I'd have off-loaded long ago), to play mine and the vector stick to give extra control. There's an immediate interface between them, which is one of the best synth tr...

Re: synth recommendations

Maybe the Dve Smith mopho keyboard? Its a bit of an unknown quantity yet. But I'd say it shines at expressive leads. The aftertouch and keyboard action is v good. But it may well be too agressive for what you want.? Heh! - at least you can go in a shop and check it out! Going by what's written about...

Re: New Alternative for Roland Jx, MKS etc Programmer...

This is made by the master synth repairer, north of Auckland. Saw one when I went to : pick up some stuff on Tuesday. It looked really yummy and I wanted one, but I didn't have anything to use it on. :
A local guy with an mks80 has said its better made than the roland controller.

Re: it has begun... (customizing my alesis ion)

Inspiring work - I remember Madonna had white V-synths for some 'save the world' gig, which looked really impressive. Also there's a site in the Uk - custom synths ?? which had some nice pics on it's site. I wish I was brave enough to take the things apart myself - ugh! just too many black or grey s...

Do you know if the same stuff applies to the FZ1? I might be making a trip to the repair shop soon and might include the FZ1 on the 'to do' list? If I can hire a van that is! :D

Re: JP-8080 volume knob

Yeah they do that - JP8000s aren't hot on build quality. They have a nice spot on top for effects boxes though - so you can add one on with a volume knob and use the effects box as volume control too. I had a frostwave sonic alienator welded to mine. :)

Re: REVERB AND TAPE ECHOS.

Another Boss RX100 spring reverb user here. I'v found myself using the tape echo on a Roland sp606 quite a lot lately - it just seems to sort of go with the samples. The Boss spring reverb was cheap and it's magic! :D
