Re: Synths used on Falco's 3rd album

Some tracks are a bit... unhinged but it's OK, I suppose. :D That's as a good a way to put it as any. It is a strange album, poppy but has some non-mainstream aspects and quirks. Lots of nice synth work. The vocal sampling on "Rock me, Amadeus" was pretty out there for early 80's - I remember heari...

Seems like they took their cues from Roland Aira on the "absolute minimal info" on the manual writing.

Re: KORG SIX new exclusive products

From the MIDI spec, it looks like it receives Program Change so hopefully those can be used to change patterns. That will ease the pain of no song mode for some users. I'm a big fan of pattern change via MIDI so you can easily coordinate multiple sequencers/boxes. I've been very annoyed that Roland ...

Re: So... Why no love for Jordan Rudess?

I always thought people didn't like him cause every time some new product comes out he's there spruiking it, much like BT did about 10 years ago. He's a serial shill. This. There is something very off-putting about an obvious w***e for the musical instrument industry. I don't care for prog rock and...

Re: KORG SIX new exclusive products

Where do you get those TRS-Midi cables? I've never seen them anywhere! They are included with the Electribes, it says it right there on the Korg website. The Beatstep also comes with one of them. What I'm interested I finding out is if midi will run fine over a minijack to minijack cable, I don't s...

Where do you get those TRS-Midi cables? I've never seen them anywhere! I don't think anyone makes them since they are such a niche product. You would probably have to make them yourself. Fortunately, that isn't too difficult. Midi to XLR: http://eventhorizon-srv.com/ecommerce/os/catalog/product_inf...

Re: KORG SIX new exclusive products

Slightly OT: wasn't there supposed to be some reason for the five pins on a midi cable? Some extra functionality that's been left behind? I thought I'd heard thar years ago (late '80's). The unused pins were reserved for future functionality, but as midi is still at v1.0 they haven't done anything ...

Hmm, I have just the opposite opinion

Very liquidy sounding acid line, which I like. The drum sounds are crisp and punchy. I also see where you are coming from regarding the dullness - perhaps it is a bad recording / YouTube?

Blue Monster 65 wrote:$399 is supposed to be the price for the Electribes.
That would be impressive if true. Seems low to me...

That price would also further drive down the second-hand price of older electribes as well.

Re: Roland sbx-1 sync box

Finally! Looks really neat. Like a modern KMS30 :headbang: I was about to post the same thing :D KMS-30 with an Internal clock in place of the largely obsolete FSK tape sync. If the new roland box keeps time well it would be a nice addition to the rig. I would have liked a dedicated knob for shuffl...
