I'm pretty sure that they're still being made in small quantities, but I've heard the waitlist is significant.

A KP2 membrane removed from the chassis and mounted on a mic stand for live manipulation of percussive loops for songs such as burn.

Yep. He's pretty good too. Granted, OO doesn't play many synth heavy tracks, but stuff like the intro to Mr. Crowley was fun enough to watch. He used mainly Triton Pro's (3x), and he had a single manual organ of some sort nestled under the Phatty.

I thought about making this thread a while ago when I worked their show. (I do commercial video) Some other bands that I've seen touting the phatty: Ozzy Osbourne, The White Stripes (painted red!! :?)

Just sticking a cinch jones cable into a gate jack wont work though I dont think, either. S-trig maintains a voltage then drops to 0 for "on" state, where it is the other way around for gate.

I thought s-trig was a gate signal/connector... not CV. Also, I think the micromoogs cv scaling might be slightly off of v/oct IIRC?

Oscilloscope: Bandwidth probably wont matter much for now. You will pretty much be using it as a visual multimiter, not looking at high frequency logic and stuff. I got an old beater 10mhz and it suits me fine for looking at waveforms up close, or cv envelopes. Volts should be one function of your m...

Ok, got a bit cleared up: Studio he was working at had the messed up VS, and it shows up in places. It wasnt until he got his own that he really started using it, mostly on TDS. And i like the "care a lot" quote in regards to the Emax, considering the Faith No More video for "We Care A Lot" I think...

I haven't heard very good things aboug Wine Country as of yet. I'm sure theres a tuning pot inside the case, if you're comfortable with opening it up.

Who hasn't heard of Curtis filter chips, or SEM chips etc? IC chips were crucial when designing polyphonic synths, there simply isn't room for 16 separate oscillator circuits + 2 filters per voice meaning 32 separate filters. The CS-80 does that, and is very unstable as a result of all the heat gen...

A component in one of your oscillators has probably seen the end of its days. MG-1s are also plagued with a black tar like coating as a result of foam that melts to cover the insides. If you feel comfortable, open it up, clean all of the pots and resolder any connections that might have failed. If t...

Presonus Firepod?

Obviously this doesn't belong in GS, but too bad :P I've just picked up a brand spanking new MacBook Pro (2.4, 17", HD :D), so now its time to get an interface for the bugger. No more of that 1in 1out hodgepodge ive been putting up with on my PC. I can't seem to find anything that beats out the pres...

Find a service manual?

If you feel confident enough to test and solder components, figure out which transistors/caps/ics control those stages and replace them.

Old stuff that typically goes bad:
-electrolytic capacitors
-4000 series CMOS
-pretty much everything
