I've got a CS-50. Its really heavy... You'll want someone to help you move it. Besides that, I love it. Those babies (50/60/80) siiiing. The aftertouch is nice for tactile performance, too.

Most of the metasonix stuff is made with weird pentodes intended for appliances like microwaves... They probably do a lot of plate starving and stuff like that, too.

I have a GL2 and access to some nicer stuff, so I'm pretty set in the video dept (I work for a video house in Seattle). You'd be welcome to help out if I decided to do that. I dunno though, a lot of people don't like being on camera, and even then I dunno how he'd feel about coming over. We shall se...

Front row seats to this summer's Rush concert are going for $480 at the moment for a 50,000 seat venue. . I have mine . . . for July 8th 2007 . . . the first RUSH show for me in almost five years! :D . I'm working Rush this year (I work for a video studio in Seattle). That'll be a nice addition to ...

Well, I got on in April, knowing I wouldn't make run 6, more hoping for 7. They take longer between each run each time, because apparently the parts they are sourcing are becoming increasingly hard to find. (some of the weird old transistors and stuff) I've been told last time it was a 5-6 month wai...

Just buy an external midi/cv box. That way it isn't stuck to your modular (so you can use it with other synths) and you won't have a midi jack on such a pristine 70's DIY synth. This sums up my thoughts pretty well. I'm looking at the Kenton... Its just kinda pricey. Oh well, I guess I shouldn't re...

Generally the entire noise souce consists of one transistor. Some may be inherently noisier than others. Usually they're picked for how noisy they are. Could be a bad transistor, or just a quiet one. If you feel comfortable, poke around with a signal tracer. Sevice manual should point out where the ...

But, if nobody has asked, is that a drawer above the keys, for which i assume you'd hold cables? Nope, when the main cabinet is off of the keyboard, it opens up to reveal all of the keyboard electronics. Our friend the engineer actually put divide down circuitry inside it, so it puts out polyphonic...

Actually, there are quite a few DIY midi/cvs out there. Ray Wilson has one made up mostly of 4000 series CMOS, and paia has one that comes with a preprogrammed EEPROM or something like that. I'm leaning towards the paia, since it carries seperate voltages to stuff like velocity aftertouch and mod wh...
