Found in Kalamazoo at a local, very small consignment shop. Also had a Oberheim XK-1 that was with it, but I didn't need it. Guy sai...

Re: KLOrk - Kalamazoo Laptop Orchestra - Instantiatus
Just realized I didn't attach the video... Should be set now. Oh yes, they still have it, and lots of other goodies in the electronic music lab. While we will probably have some more things lined up before then, there is this to put in your calender: http://www.wmich.edu/mus_bpi/events/index.html#li...

KLOrk - Kalamazoo Laptop Orchestra - Instantiatus
Here, at Western Michigan University's School of Music, have formed a "Laptop" orchestra, following the works of others, most specifically, Princeton's PLOrk . We had our first "Performance", and here it is to share with you all. Next, I'm going to try to get the schools Moog Modular involved in our...

Don't know if anyone else saw this video getting flinged around the blogsphere, but its pretty interesting and un-nerving. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELoqZiamr4E&feature=related Watching the video inspired me to want to create a "score" to the video, just for fun: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=...

Re: Prophet-600 - Determing the dead voice chip.
Update: Narrowed it down to a dead filter on voice 5. After a long wait, I got a couple of CEM 3372's on the cheap, and luck have it, I ran into no "filter variance" issues some people have when replacing these filters. Luckily the NOS chips I received were a very close date code, so I believe that ...

Re: JX8P Midi Control
Unless you are specifically requesting to be able to automate parameters from your sequencer, you can use this:
http://www.synthzone.com/mschreier/html/pcjx8p.htm
I will have to dig around, but I know I've seen a VSTi Jx-8P controller with full automation capabilities as well.

I haven't heard a lot of on board chorus units, but the JX-8P's chorus sounds VERY good.

Prophet-600 - Determing the dead voice chip.
I just recently ran into a MINT Prophet-600 in its completely original packaging, from the original owner. It is very very mint, except that it appears to only sound 5 voices. Everything else works just fine. Just as is described, after a "Tune" command, random keys do not sound, and by finding 6 wo...

Re: Sun Ra synth ID?
So as an unitiated to this space-man, what should one listen to? Did he do some weird psychedelic prog synth music or something? I've heard he had some really sick modular systems built like a space ship and used all these crazy funk clothes on stage. This should get you initiated: http://www.youtu...
