The device in the very top left of the diagram.... Is that supposed to be a 22k-ohm lamp, or a pot?

Re: Can someone explain how a VCO generates a signal
I working towards my BS in electrical engineering. Most EE's don't know how the f**k this s**t works. You don't need to be an engineer to understand it, but you do need to have the gusto to go out and google every term in this thread that you don't understand. The real trick that I have been working...

Re: What Synth?
Hard Style, Hard Trance, Hard Dance, they all make me rage. Never have I heard electronic music whose beat and energy was so forced and incoherent. There are no build ups, no interludes, just four on the f**k floor. YOU ARE ENERGETIC YOU COKED/METHED OUT JUNKY, SO DANCE LIKE YOU ARE TRIPPING!!!! As ...

Re: too many f**k samples
I think the reason to have 1700 samples in the collection isn't so that everyone who is using that pack will go through them looking for JUST THE RIGHT ONE every time they need a sample, but so that the pack is useful to a larger variety of people. That is, there's only 100 samples in the pack that...

This is one of my favourite artists. He uses the ebow a ton. He also looks like a total goob.
It comes in about 13 seconds into it.

Re: click death
I used a Boss Br-8 for about 6 years to record with. All in all I had collected like, 30 100mb zip disks and I was exchanging information in between disks all the time. I only ever had a problem with one of them.

Re: How do I get this sound?
Auto-Wah +1 That particular character of the sound is very distinctly auto-wah in nature. I would be very surprised if it was not. This wouldn't be an auto wah either. I need more frequency range than a wah. Anyone? Wah's can have a huge frequency range. I had a one of these buggers for a while. htt...

Re: Apogee ONE
Apogee is a good reputable audio company. The Duet and the One are Apogee's attempt to take in some cash from the lower end of the recording market. They are said to have the same high quality A/Ds that their higher end gear has. If you are looking for an interface, don't need anything more than one...

Re: audio interface
I'd suggest USB only because firewire is seemingly phased out of the lower end macs and is non-existent should you ever buy a PC laptop. It'll continue this trend too as USB 3.0 takes off. Any modern (Ie still sold new in stores) USB audio interface should be USB 2.0, which I've found personally fa...

A quick use of google and the midi implementation chart for your gear will solve your problem.

Re: TS vs RCA? - audio quality
Summing to mono with a y cable is bad, m'kay. You can still run a synth into input one and the another synth into input 2, just use only the left outs of the keyboards. You are recording in mono whether you actually capture the output from both channels of your synth or not. If you try and capture b...
