Re: anyone found good replacement slider caps?

I ordered the Rogue/MG-1 set from Technology Transplant in early Feb. They took my money via PayPal and then never responded to any of my emails. Product never arrived, I am currently waiting to hear from PayPal re: dispute resolution. :(

Re: Synth grouping

I've been doing a lot of recording lately using nothing but a Moog Rogue and an Ensoniq ASR-10. With the ASR's ability to layer, resample, and crossfade samples I have been finding a crazy amount of sounds lurking in such a limited setup; especially percussion! I think doing this makes one dig a lit...

Re: VSE - Good trader/seller thread

I purchased an Ensoniq ASR-10 from phoenix224 . I was very worried about shipping such a large and heavy machine from New York to California, but Mike (phoenix224) did an *incredible* job of packing it. I mean, yards of bubble wrap, foam packing, the works. When it arrived it was in amazing physical...

Does anybody else love the fact that in the background of this video you can see what is affirmatively an IKEA Rast rack?

Re: Guitar synths , some thoughts

Not sure if there are many fans on this particular board, but Iron Maiden has been using guitar synths since 1986's Somewhere in Time. They were pretty divisive at the time, and their use definitely marks a change in the overall Maiden aesthetic. The follow-up album Seventh Son of a Seventh Son has ...

Evolver, E-MU Command Station, MBox 2, EPS 16+ Turbo, RC50

For trade consideration: E-MU Command Station. Has both MP-7 and the much-loved PX-7 ROMS. I also have a gooseneck lamp for this. DSI Evolver Desktop. Ensoniq EPS 16+ Turbo. Full memory expansion, SCSI, and flash memory. Digidesign MBox 2 Ignition Pack. I never got around to taking this out of the b...

Re: HxC Floppy Emulator installed in an MPC60II

I've added some more pictures and a short video to the album at https://picasaweb.google.com/102720455101589687869/MPC60IIHXCFloppyEmulator#. Thus far I'm really pleased with the way the install is going and hope the info is useful to anyone looking to revitalize an non SCSI MPC with an ailing flopp...

Re: HxC Floppy Emulator installed in an MPC60II

I've started to add some more pictures to http://goo.gl/mX3Sj in order to show the steps I'm taking to mount the board. I've already dremeled through the casing. There is a small gap between the screen edges and the hole in the casing, so I think I'm going to fill this space with either black silico...

Re: HxC Floppy Emulator installed in an MPC60II

Actually, the MPC60's OS is stored on eproms, so no booting from disk necessary. Its a feature I wish my Ensoniq samplers had.

HxC Floppy Emulator installed in an MPC60II

I just got an install of the HxC Floppy Emulator working in my MPC60II. I made a small web album at http://goo.gl/mX3Sj to share some info. The next step, now that I can fully replace the floppy drive, is to figure out how best to house the emulator in the MPC. Because of the empty expanse of plasti...

Anyone in the Bay Area looking for collaborators?

Howdy, I live in the East Bay, and not San Francisco proper, so finding folks with whom to make music is an unending chore. I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but is anyone local looking for collaborators? Some more recent noodlings: http://soundcloud.com/escape-from-gorilla-city/...

Re: Lots of LFOs

Kurzweil K2000 has a bunch of lfos, loop able envelopes and FUN generators which can be used similarly. Korg MS2000 has but 2 true lfos, but a 3 step mod sequencer which can be used as 3 synched loopable lfos. <offtopic> Honestly, if the MS2000 didn't sound so damned metallic it would have stayed my...

Re: Emax II loop start anomaly

I guess I was hoping to be able to play the loops in a live situation w/o the need for a sequencer. I suppose setting a longer amp env release would make manual retriggering doable (and in all honesty, more flexible). Thanks for the responses.

Emax II loop start anomaly

I've been on a masochistic streak lately and have been sampling into the (1MB!) Emax II. Setting loop points is great ear training, but an OS anomaly makes me question loop timing over long durations. Apparently, the Emax II's minimum loop start time is at 0000003 (I'm away from the sampler right no...

Yamaha CS01 vs Novation BassStation

The recent MG-1 thread got me thinking about cheap analog monos again. IIRC, both of these synths are battery operable and both use DCOs. When considering the BassStation I'm thinking of the keys and not the rack, although I imagine anything usable in this arena would likely lend itself to sequencin...
