Re: NITZER EBB on tour

One thing that did disappoint: They changed the beat to "Hearts and Minds"! I was really looking forward to this tune, and they had redone it with a steady house like bass beat. So sad.

Re: Arduino Sequencer

I'd be more than happy to share my code. I have a timed event library I wrote which tracks time using millis(). I Also have a guard clause that checks for a running note and sends a note off before the next note sounds. I'm new to the Arduino platform, but I write code for a living and have a good u...

Arduino Sequencer

So, fed up with the market for step sequencers, I've elected to build my own using the Arduino platform. Has anyone else done this? I have a working prototype with 16 steps controlling pitch, gate, and velocity (one set of knobs and a mode selector) but find that the MIDI off messages I'm using to s...

Re: NITZER EBB on tour

I was at the SF show as well (what percentage of this board lives in the bay I wonder...) I thought the show was really enjoyable, and the addition of the MalletKat for bass lines was a fun twist. But seeing a laptop running Logic onstage is getting to be a downer to me. Bon Harris seemed like an ap...

Re: Serious Korg DSS-1 Mod!

I recently had this mod done by Tom in Santa Monica. I wish I had more time to play since I completed the install, but my initial reaction is that I'm pretty amazed at the facility this adds to the DSS-1. I keep thinking about all the loops and stuff I can now run through the lovely filter. I dunno,...

Re: Korg DSS-1 / DW-8000 replacement key

Awesome! Thank you. His web site says he's not taking orders until some time in December. Does anyone have an alternative source?

Korg DSS-1 / DW-8000 replacement key

Hey all,

I have a low Eb out on my DSS-1 and can't seem to find a replacement. Does anyone know where to source such a thing these days?

Thanks!

Multimix 12 Firewire

From what I understand, the USB versions of these mixers only give you a blended 2 track input into your computer for recording. The Firewire versions however, one of which I own, send each track into your computer discretely. You get 44.1- 48/16 rather than 96/24, but the track separation is good, ...

I actually came to like the OS; you can get super fast in it after a while, but the bottom line is the thing just doesn't sound all that nice. The funny thing is, it doesn't even have to sound all that *nice* for it to be useful to me. I am a big fan of Black Lung and have no issues with mangled an...

I think this weekend I'm going to try and dig in a bit deeper. However, I may end up throwing this guy up on the board or the 'bay within the next week or so. While I am definitely finding the Kurz to be extremely proficient at synthesis, I just don't seem to have a knack for making anything sound m...

I appreciate all the responses! I had actually been to that complete k2000 site before. I find all of the information there completely functional, but nothing makes me go "aha!" in regards to the k2000. The demos on bluesynths, however, were fantastic. exactly the kind of thing that makes me really ...

Can anyone help me love my k2000?

So I'm sure the problem lies squarely upon my own shoulders, but good gawd, I just *cannot* get into the Kurzweil k2000. Honestly, I can't tell if V.A.S.T. (at least as it appears here) is the deepest synthesis engine ever, or simply an unending source of buzzy digital distortion. I get no love from...

It really depends on what your priorities are for sampling. The EPS is a great machine with lots of modulation capabilities, but no resonant filter. Its strength definitely lie in its programmability and its ability to load new samples while playing (if you plan on using the sampler for live use.) T...

If and when you start using a patchbay, stereo channel strips will be an annoyance. Why is this? I am actually in the planning process of adding a patchbay(s) into my setup and hadn't considered the impact of the 4 stereo strips on my mixer. I had just started to wonder what the h**l to do with all...

At the bottom of the barrel, yet it's a bit more flexible for this purpose than the Evolver is the Korg MS2000 , which has a full row of 16 knobs which can be set to affect 3 parameters independently. It's actually 3 separate sequencers that share the same knobs. Trouble is it doesn't send MIDI so ...
