Re: Yamaha Reface

I’m working with Yamaha on a project right now; I can’t say what it is, but it’s pretty crazy. This synthesizer has new technology that’s never been implemented before, so it’s totally alien to anything I’ve ever used. I’ve had to spend a few weeks just understanding the architecture of it. See her...

Re: Yamaha Reface

I'm pretty sure we've been able to create our sound any place, any time... for a number of years, now.

Re: Korg to release ARP Odyssey

At Gearfest, I saw Dave Smith mock everyone who is concerned about surface-mount technology, and watched Tom Oberheim and Roger Linn laugh along.
After that, I kind of want to never hear about it again.

Re: TTSH: Two Thousand Six Hundred (DIY Arp 2600 Clone)

I've played them since I made the comment, and to be honest, I don't really care that it doesn't have the particular quality of the ARP 2600 that I love. More importantly, it has the functionality and the layout, and people can experience those things with it. It's eminently worth it, and will undou...

You do know that Moog uses parts made in China, don't you, Sweepy? :)

Re: RMI Harmonic synth...

Seriously, the sound is extremely raw and the single harmonics are no pure sine waves but closer to pulse waves. You have two filter sections, actually, a simple low-pass in each of the Harmonic Generator sections, and then a multimode VCF with independent outputs for LPF, BPF, and HPF, which can b...

Re: Moog Music sold

It's a pretty cool thing, to be sure... but it's not quite the thing that people perceive it to be. It essentially means that if you work at Moog Music for a period of years, you are eligible to enter the "employee ownership" and become "vested." The longer you work there, the more of a payout you'l...

Re: RMI Harmonic synth...

Why would a harmonic synthesizer need a filter?

Re: When intrinsic value is surpassed by emotion... (EMS Gea

Ugh, come on, you guys. Do you remember, ooh, nearly a decade ago, where we were talking about how analog remakes would never happen because they'd be too expensive? Well, they've found cheap ways to make analog remakes. And these cheap ways mean two things... 1. Companies can manufacture them, sell...

Re: Prophet 6

I can't wait for the Unison Mode video. I wonder what it's like to get such VIP treatment, that Dave Smith tells you months in advance what they're working on and that you'll LOVE it. The mighty Andromeda A6 has a similar unison feature, so I'm curious to hear this. The A6 has 16 voices, and freely...
