Re: Thinking of selling up?

If you were talking about selling up, from budget to high end synths, I would say yes. But selling all of your hardware for software depends. I have personally enjoyed the transition of getting more into hardware and now I find myself neglecting my hardware, even with nice analog synths in the studi...

So from what I can tell, the editor will only allow you to use preset FSEQ.

Re: What piece of gear got your mojo back?

x0x sequencers like the Elektrons are certainly fun to use. But I'm not big on composing songs by chaining patterns in hardware. I like everything linear in Logic, it's easier for me to make fine adjustments over and over to progress into breakdowns and other variations (just my personal preference ...

Re: Macbeth Proto

I would love to pair this with my FR XS. I will have to figure out a way to make room to plop that dough. Fantastic product this has shapped up to be. It's super attractive.

Re: The Appearance of Synths

The only reason the interface will matter for me is stimulation. Sometimes just looking at gear gives me ideas to create. Sometimes it's just inviting me use it certain ways based on the layout. It's not always important. I consider my P600 boring looking but love using it. I also consider my PEK be...

Re: Macbeth Proto

That 3 osc box is crazy. I like his idea, more accessible and no need for a Euro case, but the must be up there and I wonder if it's going to be a stripped down version from his Euro dual Osc. This would be a f@cking blast with my FR XS though. But I agree, it would be nice to see it make it out of ...

Re: How do you listen to your synth when programming?

Monitors are my usual way of programming, but it will always depend if I have my stuff hooked up to my audio interface or not. Sometimes I'll have certain pieces setup with headphones only to give me a little variation while other will always go through the speakers. If I want to program something o...

Re: who else but novation?

I keep saying it. Their KS synths go for stupid money. Stupid because they're so damn good. Yeah, I don't get that either. I love the KS. I remember I paid about $850 for my KS-5 and soon after the price plummeted and I think people are getting a bargain imo. But then, most of the hardware VAs now ...

Headhunter Empirion remix 'synth'

Sounds like the Yamaha DX7, but I'm wondering if the arpped bass sound in this remix is indeed the DX7. I have never owned one. Also wondering if anyone knows if this is a custom patch or if this is preset. It sounds layered with something else, but maybe that's the DX7IID layering going on there. T...

Re: types of motion sequences that you use on your tracks

LFO moding the filter or Osc for swoops or robotic glitch. And with multi (4) LFOs like on the PEK, it's a blast to get all sorts of crazy sweeps. Really modding and any and everything on the PEK produces great results.

Re: If software synths had occured BEFORE hardware synths ..

I think if software synths came before hardware (and analog) then it would be people saying 'oooo, analog has much more weight in a mix and pops out more' and at the same time they'd say 'but software overall still has more possibilities and can be limitless'. I think this topic is an interesting on...

Re: Programming tutorials?

Not so sure on Sos articles as a good place to start. I haven't read most, but I remember reading some of them and thinking they are a bunch of mathimatical explanations. Might have been the particular article, but they seemed a little more advanced on the topics. Here's a good read on synthesis in ...

Re: Ensoniq FIZMO: 3 improvisations

I find the Fizmo great. It's so unique and has lot of character. If you wanted to un-digi it, you can always run it through some preamp or compressor (hardware) or some lofi stompbox if that's what you want. I think it is unique in that it is the one synth I have that I heard this bubbly plastic bal...
