Re: Ensoniq ESQ1 CPR Needed

while NOT an EXACT match, just got in a SQ-80 dead. several of the tantalum by-pass caps (on either side of the power supply regualtars) were shorted. tantaulms have a limited life and then like to short. best to change any and all. also note there are FIVE onboard fuses in the power supply, plus t...

Ensoniq ESQ1 CPR Needed

Hello people, I have an ESQ 1, which looks amazingly new but has issues. The tech I took it to is not very experienced with synths... He had fixed the power supply on another I had before, and he is very very old and very skilled, serious... And he fixed the PSU on this one but the synth won't light...

Re: E-MU E64

If it received a CPU ram or EPRom upgrade to 2 MB, you can download and update to EOS 4. Mine is like that.
I don't remember what they called it exactly. IF you have 1 mb, EOS 3 is the max.

The OS updates are available for download at the E-mu support site.

Re: The first thing you sampled

A toilet flush into a brand spanking new Roland S-10 I had rented to see what sampling was about.
Makes a nice thundery sound when down pitched 2 octaves.

Re: I have fallen in love again

I notice aliasing, and I'm the only one who hears my music, so... yeah, it does matter. I respect that! I just wanted to point out that quirks sometimes are what give personality to gear. Like the hiss you can ear from many DX7 patches on an original DX7. I got rid of mine and got a TX-802 cause I ...

Re: I have fallen in love again

Really. Do you think that most people listening to your music is going to notice aliasing, and even less know what aliasing is? When you are finished recording a bunch of tracks and mix them, I don't notice that at all. So to me, it's just part of the sound. I tried the soft version, and even if it ...

Re: I have fallen in love again

I had a Wavestation EX as pretty much my only synth for the better part of three years, and it was my first new synth. I was in love with it at the time, but I think in retrospect it doesn't hold up as well. My gripes? A not insignificant amount of high-end aliasing, a rather muddy and flabby low e...

Re: I have fallen in love again

I ear ya. I've had mine for about 5 years now. Even if I don't use it all the time, I just couldn't live without it. You can make sounds that gives you shivers! It's pretty much my main pad machine when none have what I want. I can always program one that sound juts right. Happy to see the love for ...

Re: Mirage editing: transfering from pc

In the mist of finding the editor, I decided i'd get the Mirage... Th guy sold it about 5 minutes before getting my email. &%$?%$!!! That's life. I had seen another one a few months ago, but I was busy doing other things. So I'll wait for another one to come up! Let me know how the editor works out....

Re: Mirage editing: transfering from pc

Hey nathanscribe, watch this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrSK-aT850c&feature=related I'm trying to find that editor, but google returns nothing. "MirageEd1v1.exe" IF that sofwtare is able to dump samples, that means it is doable by MIDI. I'll keep looking... Found it! http://homepages.tesco.net/~...

Re: Mirage editing: transfering from pc

I just Googled the right question and I found some kind of manual. I understand better how it works. I'm not convinced I have the time or the patience! It doesn't seem "complicated" that much, but it sure ain't a quick one. I think sampler editing and dumping is definitely what annoys me the most. I...

Re: I got an ESQm!

Definitely a pain in the a*s to program from the front panel. But what a nice sound. Congratulations! I found that the best editor is the Sq80 VST that you can find at butchy rainer. It looks like an SQ80, it's easier and you can dump the sysex you make with it. http://www.buchty.net/ensoniq/#sq8l J...

Mirage editing: transfering from pc

Hello all, I've been thinking of getting more vintage samplers, and Mirage is one of them. I might be able to get one for about 100$ Can. My only concern is sample editing. I've been browsing and searching and a lot of links I've found are dead. Those of you who have one, is there a way to transfert...
