What Keyboards Did Kraftwerk Use on Their 1970 Debut?

Hi, I have a curious question related to the German avant-garde band Kraftwerk: does anyone know exactly what keyboards were used on their 1970 debut album, for which one of the songs was used (initially illegally) as the intro theme to the 1983-98 PBS series Newton's Apple ? http://www.youtube.com/...

Re: Classic Yamaha Keyboards - What Should I Buy?
If you're looking for a reliable FM board, might I suggest the DX7IIFD. It's got a lot of added features compared to the mk1 and can be had in mint condition for around $500. I still miss mine. If you want to buy a synth to move into, get a minifridge, a foreman grill, sell your ho...

Re: Classic Yamaha Keyboards - What Should I Buy?

I'll loan you one of my GX1s. I wish I could take it from you, but I lack both money and space (same goes for the CS-80 and the GS1). A DX7 would fit better where I am. ~Ben So then what was the point of your original post? My point is, what Yamaha synthesizer should I buy (any kind) in term...

Re: Classic Yamaha Keyboards - What Should I Buy?

Well from my many late night obsessive research sessions of all things P.A.S.S.( GX-1, CS Line), I would say the 70m is the best sound you can get for reliability and price. Excluding the DX synths. That said, ever consider a Yamaha E70? Its basically a dumbed down CS-80 synth in a home organ packa...

Classic Yamaha Keyboards - What Should I Buy?

What Yamaha synthesizers of yore should I buy based on terms of reliability and other issues? My want list: 1. GX1 2. CS80 3. CS70M 4. GS1 5. DX7 or DX1 6. CP70 or CP80 The CS80 may be one of these I may want to avoid buying not just for its constant tuning issues, but also because it may have been ...

Why did the Lyra and Apollo synths fail to get off the ground as intended?

Re: Moog Constellation Ensemble
Since no one here has played a Constellation they aren't likely to be able to compare it with the spinoff instruments.
Of course no one else would've had one; only Keith Emerson, and he actually used 2/3 of the ensemble (the keyboard synths), as I'd stated in my original...

Re: are there any new analog synthersizers

What about the Moog Minimoog Voyager and the Little Phatty? These were the last products (updated version of the original Minimoog) of its famous father, who died shortly after their release on the market.

Moog Constellation Ensemble

Hi, Has there ever been any info on the Moog Constellation ensemble submitted to this site yet? If not, here goes: Originally intended to be put in production and to go on sale as the entire ensemble and as separate items in early 1974 (the entire prototype ensemble, sans the Taurus pedals, was used...

Funky Worm - Synthesizer Model?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEscJWErZ0I Listen to all of the synthesizer solos in this 1973 Ohio Players song that was sampled by countless G-funk rappers in the 1990s, and then please tell me: what synths did "Junie" Morrison and Billy Beck use on it? The solos occur at 0:46, 1:30 and 2:15. High...

Keyboards in Promo Video for "Video Killed the Radio Star"

What keyboards are seen in the promo video for The Buggles' 1979 song "Video Killed the Radio Star"? The keyboards are played by Geoff Downes and Hans Zimmer. What I see in that video: Yamaha CP-70A - electroacoustic grand piano Sequential Circuits Prophet-5 ARP Omni II Fender Rhodes Mk I electric p...

Current Recording Artists Who Use Classic Synths

Hi, Are there any current recording artists out there in this day and age (cf. Lady Gaga, Vanessa Carlton and Keane, among others) who use the beloved and cherished classic synthesizers such as the Yamaha DX7 and the Sequential Circuits Prophet 5? Classic synthesizers hot sheet ('70s and '80s): *Yam...
