Re: New Novation Bass Station?
I bet this will probably prove more popular in the long run with gigging musicians. Presets, bus powered, simple layout and a nice big filter cutoff knob.
The slightly different filter choices might give a bit more of an edge over something like the Mopho too.

Re: Portable Noodle Box
Oh, and obsolescence ? Didn't you just ask about buying an MPC500 or QY70 ? Just sayin'... Another good point! I think in my Apple naivety, I wasn't entirely sure if Apple were prone to releasing OS updates that would render old apps un-usable. Are you able to not update the OS to avoid that happen...

Re: DSI announces Prophet 12!
I guess it hasn't come up that often as it only really works on synths with near knob-per-function interfaces. It's definitely one of the most exciting aspects of any of these current new synth methinks.

Re: How vintage synths smell
Yep. My ETI4600 definitely had that same vibe; tolex, wood and crapping-out electronics. I only have the transformer left now but it still has that smell.

Re: DSI announces Prophet 12!
I'd be interested to see if they do a single voice version. Though I wonder how they'd name it. "Prophet One" would probably spark all kinds of outrage on the interwebs.

Re: Portable Noodle Box
You're probably right. I guess I'm just wary of the prospect of obsolescence with the iPad. I'm not confident that it's still going to be useable in a couple to a few years. etc etc.
Though, the inability of the QY or MPCs to also check emails is definitely a downer!

Portable Noodle Box
In attempting to resist buying an iPad for travelling I'm wondering if there's other portable music making devices people could recommend. The main two springing to mind are the QY70 and the MPC500. Is the MPC500 really that bad? The advantage over the QY I thought could be the ability to do field r...

Re: Korg Kross announced
If Korg announced the Kross with a tacky hype campaign too, then I'd be just as flummoxed as I was when I saw the Roland campain.

Nice touch to throw in an Electribe style sequencer too.

Edit.
Never mind. That's what Novation's website would be for!

Re: 1st Gen iPad for music apps.
Thanks for the advice, folks. Though if Apple allowed simple storage expansion for audio, this wouldn't be a problem. A new 16gb model would be fine just fine!
Cheers,

1st Gen iPad for music apps.
I'm hoping someone can help me with this. I'm heading to the US soon and wanted a gizmo for playing with while away. I thought I'd come to the dark side and invest in an iPad, albeit second hand 1st gen so I can afford a 64gb model. I'm pretty much completely befuddled with iPad revision differences...

Re: Proof that Roland are indeed insane.
Back in the 90's. Woo hoo! Amazing that they could be so backward looking when simply everyone knows they should be reproducing the 70s and 80s. I think some of you might be confusing what you would like to see Roland do with them giving a toss about your world and just perhaps they do have some id...

Re: Proof that Roland are indeed insane.
All nice points indeed but out of topic as far as I'm concerned. Fact is they claim "WE ARE BACK !" like something huge is happening when they probably did nothing exciting since V-Synth which is close to 10 years old by now I believe. So yes, they are off base or "insane" says the OP. Reminds me o...

Proof that Roland are indeed insane.
I don't usually comment on this sort of thing but what the f**k was all that about?
Back in the 90's. Woo hoo!
