Re: what age did you get into synthesis?

I first got into synths with a poly-800 when I was fifteen. Now, I'm 17 and I miss my poly-800.

Re: Korg Poly800 AC Adaptor or Batteries??

It's the only piece of gear I ever regret getting rid of. I recently got a juno-106 in a trade to replace it. Ironically, the friend from whom I got the juno just got a poly-800.

Re: What is your live set up?

Currently, Korg Mono/Poly is my only live synth because it is complicated enough to make a huge variety of sounds, yet simple enough that I can reprogram it very quickly.

Re: Korg Poly800 AC Adaptor or Batteries??

I had a Poly800 for a few years. I always kept batteries in it while it was plugged in. There were no explosions or other problems in doing this.

Re: moog the source

You will have to locate a data cassette to load presets onto any synth with a tape interface. Not being a sampler, wav files of the presets will not do any good in restoring sounds. As for your data cassette, I cannot help you.

Re: If You Could Have Just One Vintage Synth...

1.) Moog Modular - a small system with a sequencer and cv to midi converter. 2.) Poly-800 Mk1... seriously. It was my only synth for a long time and I could program what ever I wanted on it. Also, If I had only one synth, patch memory would be a must. Also the sequencer would be useful if it was all...

Yamaha HX5

Does anyone know where I could get a power cord? It's a strange design that I haven't ever seen.

Most MIDI instruments don't use all their channels at once. Make sure that the Boss is transmitting on the same channel as the Korg is recieving.

Mono/Poly variations

I just learned that there are two different versions of the mono/poly. It looks like the later version had 33kohm resistor between the VCO out and SSM, where as the earlier version has a 47kohm resistor. How could I tell, without taking apart the synth, if I have a new or old version? Does anyone kn...
