I would definately recommend the Jp-8000 as a really good VA in my opinion, but although being 12 years old, they still command decent prices. If you have this much to spend, you could just go out and get a real analog. Maybe you couldn't get as complex sounds with an analog in that price range, but...

I'm no expert, but I think the name "VA" is well suited. VAs are digital synths, so they are not really analog, but they function more like an analog synth. My MS2000 is just as digital as my DX7, but the DX7 is definately not a VA. Therefore, I see no reason why we shouldn't call things like JP-800...

Speaking of DX7, does anyone know how I would go about backing up the original patches before I change them? Any help would be very much appriciated.

I cannot figure out how to dump a bank of sounds into MidiQuest with my DX7. Could someone enlighten me?

I had the delay/pitch shifter variety on loan to me for a while. It is a real neat effect that can get crazy and unpredictable at times. I would say go for the pitchshifter delay.

I had the same issue as you. I had a poly-800 and a mono/poly, neither good for ambiant anything. I got an MS-2000BR and was happy with that for those kind of sounds. I just recently got a dx7, a synth with which I am even happier for ambiance. I can't speak for the Alesis, but I would recommend the...

I didn't get any synths, but my mom and dad got me Cubase4, a really nice, new condenser mic, and an audio to midi converter box. My grandma gave me $250 towards a new synth!

Something in my CP-30 got fried in an electrical storm and now it doesn't work, so it's in the shop to be fixed. Unfortunately, the guy fixing it is deadly slow when it comes to repairs.

If you are looking for polyphony, consider the mono/poly only a monosynth. It's a stunning monosynth, but the polyphony is not really useable for most applications.

CP30 fuse?

I talked about this is a previous post, but I thought I'd try again. If anyone has a CP30 or schematics to one, could you please tell me how many amps the 250V fuse should be? This is the fuse right next to the power supply and jacks. Any help would be really nice. Thank You.

Does anyone else who owns a CP-30 tell me the amps for the fuse? Mine blew during a storm, and when I went to get another, the amps on the old fuse were unmarked.
